Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 34

Estelle's POV

The familiar smell of sterile water from the hospital woke me up from the darkness, but I still felt exhausted. I don't know if the nightmare I just had was real or just a dream I had. I didn't have a single bruise on my body, but the roses on my hands were still bright red. I thought of Lance's angry face. It was as if a hole had been broken in my heart and a million cold winds had poured in.

He treats me like a traitor, like a murderer. I tried to get up from the bed, but my body was as weak as if it had been overdrawn. At that moment, the ward sounded the opening of the door and my father was very happy to see me awake.

"How's your body feeling?" Father asked me .

I struggled to get up in bed and my father helped me up and put a pillow behind me. I looked at his face in a bit of a trance.

"Am I a vampire?" My voice was as soft as a feather, and all I could get out of my throat was the sound of air.

My father sighed, then took my cold hand. "You have vampire blood, your mother was a vampire."

I feebly withdrew my hand in my father's hand, "You never gave me that."

"I thought you would never awaken."

"You think?!" I suddenly raised my voice and coughed as a result. When I calmed my breathing, I asked him, "If I don't awaken, are you going to keep it from me forever?"

"I'll let you know when you're ready."

"I won't be ready for this! Because I'm a damn, werewolf-vampire hybrid."

"Not all vampires are like that, your mother was a good person."

"Good people? She gave me and Nathan half of her disgusting bloodline and left us behind."

"How dare you talk about your mother like that?! She left her family behind for you to be with me." Father's face was a mixture of blue and red, his mother was a minefield he could not touch.

"If she really loved us, she wouldn't have given birth to us and left!"

"She must have her own struggles."

"How long do you want to lie to yourself? She abandoned you long ago!" I hurt my father with vicious words like a snake spewing venom.

"I won't allow you to talk about your mother like that!"

"Mother? Did she raise me and Nathan for a day?"

When my father finally couldn't take my cynical attitude, he lifted the rack with the I.V. bottle and slammed it on the door.

After getting the doctor's permission, I practically fled from the hospital back to my home. In my eyes, everyone who passed by looked at me with malice in their eyes. They all thought I was a murderer? Nathan said it was all a hallucination on my part and that he accepted his identity very quickly. I guess that's because he hasn't awakened yet.

Not to mention the wolves now, rumors of vampire murders spread to everyone's ears. I'm sure if my cover was blown, they'd rally to take me to the stake.

"Estelle." my father's voice came through the door.

"Get out!" I shouted outside, the last thing I wanted to see was his face right now. But he opened the door and walked in anyway. I rolled over from the bed and turned my back to him.

My father told me a lot of stories about how he first fell in love with my mother and then gave birth to us. But I didn't really listen to it, the story was too long ago. And did he think that telling a story would work? I was a child born in a werewolf community, and we were told from a young age that vampires were monsters.

I didn't even leave the house for a few days after that, and my father and Nathan were still trying to persuade me. But all they do now when they see me is shake their heads and let out a sigh. The look in their eyes was like the look I used to give them when I was raising my family. The look of trash.

I can't stand this. I look at the mark on my wrist. It must have been the mark that caused my transformation. I got a knife and tried to scratch the mark of the rose, but my skin healed right up. Damn, that mark was a symbol of shame. I'll never be able to get rid of it.

The cold metallic smell of silver sage wafted into my room at night, and I cowered myself in the corner when Lance entered. He didn't startle anyone when he came in, and there wasn't a sound from the Alpha's footsteps.

Lance picked up the pocket knife I had thrown on the floor, and his face turned very hard. His feet stopped in front of me and Artemis cheered. I hadn't seen him in a long time, and the MATE link told me that I needed MATE's company badly now. But I didn't want to see him.

I don't know if it was a function of the vampire gene, but I could smell a strange odor on them. It was something I had never smelled before, a smell that every werewolf had. They all overwhelmed me, except Lance, the MATE who almost killed me. and this MATE was standing in front of me with a pocket knife.
