Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 32

Estelle's POV

Mia jumped on me when she saw me, her hair hitting me in the face. I smelled a citrus shampoo. I caught her and the sight of her gave me a sense of coming back to real life.

"Where have you been the last few days? I've been worried sick." Mia complained to me.

"A stolen werewolf showed up at my house, so I moved."

"I heard about it, how he really died."

"I'm sorry, I can't talk about it." I don't want to involve Mia in these dangerous things.

"Okay, I can understand that. But you need to let me know you're safe."

"Don't worry, I'll protect myself." I pinched her round cheeks. "What about you, what's the news these days?"

"Boring life, still no mate. i really should visit another territory,."

"It's under martial law, it's dangerous!" The encounter of the other day still haunts me.

"I'm just kidding, the main city was sealed up a long time ago."

"Good for you to know."

"So is it true that what's been going on lately has something to do with vampires?" Mia asked quietly in my ear.

"It's all said and done that it's confidential."

"Got it, Mom!" Mia pouted,, she often teased me like that. I can't be blamed for always treating her like a child, in my eyes she is just a cute girl. Maybe it's because I had to support my family since I was a kid, and she has some qualities that I can't have.

When Mia and I passed by the library, some girls were discussing something on the grass in front of the library. I heard my name over their conversation. Mia and I looked at each other and quietly walked over to them. The girls had their backs to us and didn't notice my approach.

"Is Estelle the murderer?" A girl asked her companion.

"Her house was cordoned off at the time."

"Yes, that body was found in her house."

"I told you the 'outsiders' were unreliable, so why hasn't she been arrested yet."

"That's because she didn't do it, dumbass!" Mia shouted at the whispering girl. The girl was startled and ran away in a panic when she saw us.

"I guess they're not the only ones speculating."

"Some people want to use this incident to discredit you." Mia is still a little indignant.

"I'm guessing 'some people' refers to Skyler?"

"Who else but her?"

"Whatever she does, that body has nothing to do with me anyway."

"The main thing is that the real murderer has not been found and everyone in the pack is on edge."

"There's a lot involved, and Alpha is doing his best."

"When did you and the Alpha get so familiar?" Mia looked at me with a smile piled on her face.

"Where did you get the impression that I was familiar with him?" I retorted to her sheepishly.

"That's something to talk about." Mia cleared her throat in a serious manner "He saved your life once? Twice! And you don't look right every time the Alpha is mentioned."

"Because I'm afraid of him."

"Oh? Scared? Really? You look like you obviously like it."

"Stop it." I stuffed the apple from my bag in Mia's mouth.

"Someone's shy." Mia said while making chewing noises in her mouth.

But I haven't seen Lance since we moved into our new home. i know he's busy investigating vampires, but i can't feel his thoughts or emotions from the other side of the mate link. artemis is very agitated these days because Lance keeps me on the other side of the wall.

I saw Jacob in the hallway during class, and he and his friend apparently saw me, too, and Jacob was trying to say hello. His friend pushed his hand up and whispered something in his ear.

Jacob's face became strange, and I guess he heard the speculation about the "murderer". Sure enough, he immediately treats me like air and walks past me without looking at me. Mia was right, it was a bunch of idiots. And I'm glad I didn't agree to hang out with Anthony in the first place.

Mia was still doing her duty, and I was sitting in an empty classroom waiting for her to come home with me. I looked down and fiddled with my phone, then heard a scream from Mia's side.

"Ah!" The rag in Mia's hand fell to the floor and she covered her hand.

Before I passed out, Noah's face flashed before my eyes. That's right, it was him. The strange mark on my hand must have been his doing. After realizing this, I completely fell into a coma.

A real rose grew from the mark on my wrist, a velvet rose with a thick texture like thick blood. The thin layer of fuzz on top of the petals resembled the fur of a living creature, giving the flower an eerie, biological feel.

Where have I seen this before? The red that makes me wince. I lay in a bush of velvet roses, thorns wrapped around my body. My skin rose in heat, the pain and hyperthermia of the spikes rubbing against my skin tormenting me in chaos.

"... Wake up."

A coolness was born from my face, and I traced the cool touch from the burning hell. I opened my eyes and Lance's hand was resting on my face.

"I'll call the doctor."

I took Lance's hand, "Don't go, don't leave me."

"I'm not leaving you." Lance was sitting on the edge of my bed, and I wasn't sure if this was a dream or what. My brain hadn't woken up yet.

"I'm so hot." My face traced the temperature of Lance's hand.

"You've got a fever." Lance stroked my forehead and I let out a soft sigh of comfort.

"I don't know." I yanked open my collar in order to get a little cooler. The skin on my chest touched the air and Lance's eyes darkened a lot as he looked at me.

"It's not rut, I don't sense a change in your scent." Lance's raspy voice hit my eardrums.

I moved closer to Lance and in my subconscious, it was his touch that made me feel comfortable. To escape this heat, I took off the remaining clothes on my body.

"Are you seducing me?" Lance exhales hot breath into my ears.

"I'm still so hot." I wanted Lance to ask for help, and he suddenly hugged me, but the knitted fabric of his wool was making it very hard for me. I slipped my hands into his shirt and felt his cool tinged skin.

"Are you sure this is what you want?"

"I'm sure." In my confused brain, getting out of the heat took over all. It didn't matter to me how the rest of it went.

Lance took his shirt off straight away and my hands rested on his lumpy abs. As his abdomen rose and fell, I could feel his breath catch.

"Give me a hug." I heard a strange, sappy voice I had never heard before.

I was pinned to the bed by Lance, and he kissed me all over. lance's body pressed against mine with a reassuring weight, and I let out a groan of relief. His hand traced my arm and clasped with my fingers. My wrist gave off another slight tingle.
