Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 23

Estelle's POV

I was late. I felt a crisis when I woke up from my sleep because I forgot to set my alarm clock. I picked up the phone by my pillow, 9:30. It was over, I was half an hour late for my first special training from the Alpha. Seriously, I can't blame me, Mia made me run 10 miles around the training ground yesterday. So the second my head hit the pillow, I passed out.

After washing up, I tied my long hair into a high ponytail and changed into a snug t-shirt and long pants. There's no rush when you're already half an hour late. There was a sudden rhythmic knock on my bedroom door and I called out in the direction of the door.

"What's wrong?" If Nathan had been the one to get me up to make breakfast, I would have scolded him away.

But a muffled and familiar male voice came from outside the door "You're late, so I've come to catch you there."

The moment I heard Lance's voice, I jumped up like a cat with fried hair. God, I was afraid to face him now, I even wanted to run away from the window. But a knock on the door urged me on, and I stiffened my arms and legs and opened the door for Alpha, whom I had stood up.

Lance walked around my bedroom as if he were touring his territory, then sat down in my chair. He folded one leg over the other, then crossed the fingers of both hands in front of him. How did he make my pink computer chair feel like a throne?Lance cocked his head at me, waiting for me to give him an explanation.

"I didn't mean to do it, I was too tired from training yesterday and I overslept."

"I got it. When you're ready, we'll go." Lance was very calm, but I was getting panicky. He was like the sea before a storm, and who knew what undercurrents were raging beneath the surface.

I casually grabbed a jacket from the closet and put it on, "I'm good!"

Lance walked out of my room, and I followed him. We ran into Nathan in the living room, who had just come out of his room and was frozen in place looking at Lance and I. Then a faint "Alpha." came out of his mouth.

Lance gave him a nod, and Nathan instantly folded back into his room and closed the door with a bang.

I was sitting in the passenger side of the car when Lance suddenly opened his mouth to strike up a conversation with me.

"Is he scared of me?" I thought for two seconds before I realized he was talking about Nathan.

"A little." Nathan, of course, was scared to death of him, and I don't know what really happened the day he went to rescue me, but now Lance's name works wonders for Nathan's drug withdrawal. I often use Lance to scare Nathan, like a shootable bedtime story for kids. The idea made me smile involuntarily.

Then I felt Lance's gaze, though only for a moment.

The car stopped at a lakeside villa, the upper floor of which was built entirely of glass, reflecting dazzling light in the sun. We walked past the dried flower bushes on the side of the road, everything here looked familiar to me, Lance had brought me here before, one of his houses.

"I thought we were going to the training ground."

"This is my training ground."

I looked up at Lance and it looked like he wasn't born with these beautiful muscles. Lance led me into the backyard of the villa, which I thought was just an ordinary lawn. But the sight in front of me still made me sigh with wonder at the financial power of the Eclipse wolf pack.

"Is that a golf course over there?" I pointed to a large grassy area in the distance.

"No, that's a soccer field." Lance was happy to see me defeated.

"Warm up first, and later I will personally coach you in free sparring."

"In person?"

"That's right, we're one-on-one."

Lance was stretching his muscles on the side, he looked like a big feline, I can't imagine what kind of amazing strength this soft muscle will explode.

"I was going to ask you yesterday, why did you have to special train me?" I don't think he knew about the duel between Skyler and me, to him it was just a fight between students. And if he wanted to stop us it would be easy, we wouldn't even have a chance to start this BATTLE.

"You've only just had your own wolf, learn to use that power. And you do have a gift."

"What gift?" I never realized I had any talent.

"Know what's wrong?" The hot breath he exhaled blew into my ears.

"... I got it, let go of me!" I twisted my body to avoid his attack. lance finally let go of my arm, but when I turned around, the tip of his nose brushed against my face.

It was too close! My heart pounded violently and the smell of him made me lean closer to him. His inky blue eyes stared at my lips and my pursed mouth was opened by his soft tongue.

Lance suddenly deepened the kiss, and I felt his abnormality through the link. a black shade was attached to Lance's irises, and his arms tightened around my waist.

"Balder?"

A low growl escaped Lance's throat in response. It was the first time I had faced Balder directly, but Lance didn't look like he wanted to give him that chance as he pinched his throat bone. I took his hand to stop him from hurting himself, and Lance looked into my eyes as the blue slowly emerged from the black.

He finally let himself go, and I looked at him incredulously.

"Are you going to kill yourself?"

"You don't know what happens when you let Balder out."

"He's your wolf, and all people live with their wolves."

"I can co-exist with him, what about you?"

"What does this have to do with me?" Lance immediately shut his mouth, and he seemed to regret taking my words. What I hate most is when people hide things from me, and this is clearly about me. I questioned Lance loudly.

"Why don't you explain to me every time that it has something to do with the legend of the curse, right?"

Lance took a deep breath, and he spoke with a heaviness that was hard to ignore. "It's not a legend, it's a fact."
