Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 22

Estelle's POV

"Oh my God!" Mia's mouth dropped open, and then she started screaming. "This is great!"

"How does it feel?" Mia asked me.

"Awesome, but I still can't quite get used to it."

We hugged each other and laughed exaggeratedly until someone threw strange looks at us. When Mia and I walked into the school, there were a lot of people looking at me with strange eyes. I didn't even receive so many stares on my first day here.

"What are they looking at? Is there something on my face?" I asked Mia

"By the way, I forgot to tell you. In the few days you've been away, Skyler has spread the word all over the school that you don't have a wolf."

"She's been released?"

"My guess is that her parents went and pleaded with Beta."

When I walked into the classroom, the sound of talking in the classroom suddenly disappeared. As if by agreement, everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at me. I guess they were still in the suspicious stage, no one believed that the Alpha would take in an "outsider" without a wolf. But according to Mia, Skyler must have assured them that I hadn't been able to awaken.

Their probing glances made me feel funny, and I didn't have to explain myself to anyone. I sat back in my seat under their watchful eyes and they immediately whispered.

"Take your time, if people get to know you, they'll all like you." Mia leaned over my desk.

"I doubt she'll let me 'take my time'." I gesture to Mia, and Skyler rushes toward us from the classroom door with an unstoppable swagger. It seems she's been waiting a really long time for someone to brief her as soon as I return.

As she stood in front of us with her little group, it occurred to me that the girl who set Nathan up had been one of her "friends". I don't know how much she knew about it, or if it was her idea at all.

"What do you want?" I looked at Skyler in front of me. none of the people around us said anything, they all looked at us.

"Stop pretending to be a monster without a wolf, you don't deserve to be in our wolf pack."

"Who says I don't have a wolf?" I leaned back in the back of my chair and looked at her.

"Don't bullshit her, you should have clawed that face of hers." Artemis said in my head.

"I knew you wouldn't admit it!" Skyler exclaimed. Skyler exclaimed, seemingly thinking she was being very clever "We'll go one-on-one at the training ground this weekend. This isn't some game, and don't even think about letting Alpha come to your rescue again."

With all eyes on me, I whispered to Skyler, "Okay."

The calm atmosphere was broken at once, and the people around started to talk. They couldn't believe that a man without a wolf would dare to accept Skyler's challenge. And now Skyler was being treated like a liar, her hand slammed down on the table in front of me.

"Just you wait, I'll expose you when the time comes!" Skyler left me with an angry back and walked away.

"Are you sure you want to go?" Mia asked me in a whisper.

"If I don't go, I'll be a liar."

"Then I'll train with you. skyler may be a spoiled young lady, but she's a tough foe. She has a powerful bloodline, so not many people can beat her."

"I'm not afraid of her, did I ever tell you my dad used to be Beta?"

"Oh my God! What other secrets are you hiding!" Mia exclaimed while slapping my shoulder.

I looked at her with a smile and didn't answer her question. If she knew that I was the Alpha's MATE, she would probably pass out from overexcitement.

When Mia and I walked into the training ground we noticed that there was something subtle about the atmosphere, everyone had an expression of suppressed excitement. Then I heard the girls in front of us whispering.

I shake my head at Mia. Artemis is furious with Skyler and my palms are sweating slightly as Artemis urges me to go to Lance's side. Her possessiveness makes me anxious, too.

However that's when the coach called Skyler and I's name and we stood with a few students.

"Shooting training. Show the Alpha how well you're training, and don't embarrass me." I looked over to Lance's face as his gaze swept over each of us without making any stops. I ignore the small loss in my heart and prepare for the match with the other team.

Because Lance was there, everyone wanted to try to look their best. skyler's put the butt of the gun on his ample chest and the coach saw a small shake of his head. And my shooting score, before I was a wolf, was the best in all the sports tests. So when the coach reported the target number, Skyler's face was quite ugly.

"What's the point of shooting well?" Skyler said disgruntledly.

Few wolves do shooting training because wolves all revere wildness and strength. And humans with guns are not faster than wolves, so wolves are contemptuous of guns. But the legion once used guns to exterminate a wolf pack, using mercury bullets. Since then all wolves were accusing the Legion's behavior, and also began to produce arms privately.

The coach tried to say something, but Alpha stopped him. as Lance took his jacket off, I heard the excited intake of breath from the crowd of onlookers. lance held out his hand to me, and I reacted for two seconds before handing him the gun. Then Lance barely aimed, he didn't even look at the target. He held the gun up with one hand and put the bullet into the target.

Then came the well-deserved ten rings. There were gasps from everyone around, including the coach. Lance put his jacket back on, and after a few words with the coach, he left the training ground. He didn't even look at me during this time, and I didn't even pay attention to what Mia was saying.

"I'm sorry, what did you say?" I looked at Mia apologetically.

Mia rolled her eyes "Skyler was just about to blow a gasket."

"She's always hated me, and even without what just happened she'd be dying to kill me."

"Well, it's good that you're clear. So you must win over her this weekend."

Mia was simply stricter than our coach, so it was dark by the time I dragged my tired body home. Just as I was using my last strength to finish my shower and lie in bed, I received a message on my phone. I stared wide-eyed at the sender, Lance's big name displayed on it. His message was very brief.

"Come see me tomorrow for special training."
