Alpha's Cursed Mate novel Chapter 24

Estelle's POV

The words that Lance uttered were like a judgment on my fate. Luna of the c family all died because of the accident. I looked at Lance's sad eyes, his parents were definitely the victims of this curse.

My memory suddenly flashed back to when we first met.

"You already knew we were a MATE pair?" I asked Lance.

"Yes, from the first meeting."

"Because I'm your MATE, so you tried to kill me? But you found out that I don't have a wolf and I don't affect you, so you let me go, right?"

"It started out that way. But..."

"I'm sorry, I have a wolf now. And I don't want to be your MATE, it's not a choice I can make." I said and ran out of his house, I just wanted to hide. artemis took over my body and she transformed into a wolf and ran to the edge of the city.

I really wanted to slap myself, I always thought I was different in Lance's eyes. With the MATE link, I always felt at peace on the other side of my spirit. But Lance saw me as a threat, a weakness, from the beginning. He should have killed me long ago. Did I gain his sympathy without the wolf instead?

I'm such a joke, it turns out my mate wasn't looking forward to my arrival at all.

Artemis suddenly straightened up as she heard someone approaching. Artemis bared her teeth at the approaching person, and a low warning growl escaped her throat.

"Don't be so angry, I'm here to take you home." Ethan said to Artemis.

"Do I have to transform to communicate with you?" Ethan leaned closer to us.

Ethan handed me his jacket, which I put on, barely covering the base of my thighs.

"Did Lance tell you to come to me?"

"Yes, and what did he do to piss you off?"

Ethan was sitting next to me, on a patch of gravel and fallen leaves. He didn't care, but I was a little distressed by the expensive looking suit pants.

"I'll tell you a Lance secret, but you have to promise me you won't tell anyone."

I guess the secret has something to do with that curse, "I promise, go ahead."

"Most of the Clifford family's Luna were killed by their alphas, as was Lance's mother."

I snapped my head around to look at Ethan, which was way more than I thought it would be. No wonder Lance kept his mouth shut about it, Ethan continued, looking at my surprised expression.

"Lance has always hated his family's fate, and he fears that he himself is like his father. But you're different, and a MATE without a wolf is like a teaser for him to break that fate."

"But I have a wolf now."

"So you are also afraid that your fate will be like those Luna?"

"I'm not afraid, and the reason I survived my father's bottle and the bastards who bullied me to this day is not some shit fate."

"That's why you're the one who can take Lance out of this fate."

"......"

When I got home I thought long and hard about how I never seemed to know Lance, and how I couldn't expect him to tell me everything the way Ethan did, that he was the Alpha, the one who took all the responsibility. We all seem to have thought of him as the cold-blooded dictator for too long, and he's only a few years older than me.

I tried to feel Lance's spirit with the MATE link, and my spiritual tentacles were gently wrapped by him. So this is what mate feels like? Without any language's, I could feel his heart. All my distress and doubts disappeared in this moment. I don't know if I have the ability to get out of this fate with Lance, but I am still happy to have this MATE.

Mia came to my house early this weekend to meet me after a few days of training. When I walked in with Mia, there was a large crowd around the sparring ring. As I approached the crowd, they let out a mishmash of cheers.

Skyler had arrived long ago and was at the other end of the field getting ready for her warm-up.

"Girls fight!" some daring boys cheered from the sidelines.

"I didn't think there would be so many people around." I said to Mia next to me.

"The news of this spread through the school when Skyler gave you his war letter."

"Don't the teachers and coaches care?"

"If you lose the fight, you're hospitalized, and if you win, you're punished. Not many people want to duel privately."

"You never told me about being punished for this!"

I tried to get around him, but he insisted on getting in front of me. "What do you want?" My tone was a little strong, he wasn't going to help Skyler get revenge, was he?

Jacob gave me a toothy grin "I don't know what you misunderstood, but I'm not here to cause trouble. I thought you were amazing earlier."

I was a little overwhelmed in the face of such a blunt expression. "... Thanks?"

"I'll see you at school tomorrow." Jacob smiled and waved at me as the boys around him all made coos of laughter.

"Jacob is very popular at school." I was startled when Mia suddenly appeared beside me.

"So what?"

"He's making a pass at you, and you're not interested in him?"

"I don't know." Lance's face came up before my eyes.

"I think he's not bad, and you haven't found your MATE yet anyway."

"What about you?" To keep Mia from blindly guessing my MATE, I had to change the subject to her.

"I've been waiting." Mia said to me, "But I'm not a big believer in mate relationships."

But that reminds me, I should thank Lance, his special training has been very helpful in my improvement. I'm sure he's been aware of the "little fights" between Skyler and me for a long time, and he hasn't stopped me from fighting, even though it's forbidden within the pack. He prefers to train me, for God's sake, he's a control freak. But I'm surprised he didn't do it.

Word of my private fight with Skyler got out immediately, and a day later my teacher called me into the office. To be honest, I didn't even know what the punishment was going to be. It was the moment I walked into the office and waited for the verdict.

I heard Skyler's voice coming from the office.

"Do you like her too? Or is she your MATE?"

"Watch your attitude, Skyler!" It's Lance's voice! Why was he at school?

"I've liked you for years, why don't you look at me?" Skyler's voice had tended to scream. I don't know what emotion drove me to look in through the unclosed door.

Skyler jumped on top of Lance and kissed him on the lips as fast as anyone could react.
