Ethan looked at his former mother-in-law. "Are you leaving because you're tired of me coming over every day?"
"Not at all. Richard and Amelia have been away from home for a long time and want to visit. It's where I grew up, and I'd like to take a walk around the old neighborhood, too."
"Don't overthink it, Ethan. It has nothing to do with you."
"Then... can I still come visit when you get back?" Ethan asked.
Cynthia replied politely, "Of course. We're neighbors. It's perfectly normal to drop by occasionally."
By the time they returned from the country, Ethan would be fully recovered and back to the grueling demands of his company. He wouldn't have time to freeload, Harold wouldn't have to be jealous, and Isabella would finally have some peace.
Ethan smiled. "Great. I'll come chat with you all when you get back."
He focused on his food and didn't try to force any more conversation.
After breakfast, he lingered for only a moment before taking his leave. He couldn't bear to watch Isabella and Harold walk out together. Their intimacy made his blood boil, but he had lost the right to say a word about it.
They were divorced. Isabella was free to pursue a new romance, and Harold's feelings for her were genuine.
He knew he should be the bigger person and wish them well, but he just couldn't do it.
As soon as Ethan left, Harold and Isabella headed out. As their car rolled out of the driveway, they spotted Natalie's vehicle parked outside Ethan's gates.
"Ethan's rose-tinted view of her is completely shattered."
That vivid dream had destroyed every illusion Ethan held about Natalie.
In the previous timeline, after Isabella's death, Ethan had hunted down the truth, eventually tracing the murder back to Natalie. Unable to stomach her venom, he gathered the evidence and handed it over to Stephanie before confronting the Lanes. He knew he couldn't bring himself to destroy Natalie personally, so he let his grandmother handle the police. It was his way of securing justice for Isabella, ensuring Natalie faced the law.
Isabella didn't know how Natalie's story would end in this lifetime, but things were rapidly deteriorating for her.
Watching her lose everything she cherished piece by piece was the ultimate revenge.
Isabella intended to sit back and watch Natalie's world burn while her own life flourished. It would drive the woman insane.
