After I Stopped Loving Him novel Chapter 1183

Instead of getting angry, Ethan seized the opening. "You're absolutely right. I should pay for my meals. I'll cover my board right now."

He immediately pulled out his wallet and emptied all his cash—probably a few hundred dollars. He placed the neat stack in front of Cynthia. "Mom—I mean, Cynthia. Here is my board fee. I only have this much on me for now."

"I'll go grab more cash later. Now that I've paid my way, I'll have to trouble you and Amelia to cook for one more person."

Everyone fell silent.

Richard earned a fierce glare from both his sister and his wife. Thanks to his big mouth, Ethan now had the perfect, legitimate excuse to show up for dinner. How would Harold feel about this?

Richard instantly regretted his words, but the damage was done.

"Take your money back," Isabella ordered.

Ethan looked at her with wide, innocent eyes. "Isabella, this is for my meals. I can't just freeload."

"I know it's not much, but I'll go get more later."

Isabella's expression turned glacial. "Your mother and grandmother bend over backwards to make nutritious food for you so you can heal properly. Instead, you come here to mooch off us, completely wasting their efforts."

"We don't want you coming over here every day. Take your money. We don't need your board fees. From now on, unless you're explicitly invited, do not show up for dinner."

"Ethan, we are divorced. You need to learn some boundaries. Stop crossing the line."

"I am Harold's girlfriend now. If you keep lingering around my house, what is he going to think? If you cause a misunderstanding between us, I will never forgive you."

There was no point in arguing with Ethan. It was just a waste of time. Ethan was doing this on purpose to stall them and ruin their vacation.

Isabella took a deep breath and leveled a cold stare at her ex-husband. "Eat your food and go home to rest. Stop running around. If your wounds get infected, you're the one who will suffer."

She certainly wasn't going to pity him.

Ethan gave a meek nod.

Cynthia picked up the stack of cash and slid it back across the table. "Ethan, I'm not taking your money. Take it back."

"Richard, Amelia, and I are heading back to our hometown for a while. With Isabella at work all day, no one will be cooking here anyway. You'll have to eat at your own house."
