A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 283

Thus, Melody had ruled out Zephyr Law Group from the beginning.

When Jeremy didn't hear her response, the grip he had on his book gradually tightened, as if he was suppressing something.

In the end, he tossed the book onto the coffee table, looked to the side, and mentioned without much emotion, "You should know that many firms want to work with Regallo, so most of them won't take your case."

Melody lowered her head. "Thank you."

She knew what Jeremy said was true.

As if reading her thoughts, he stood up, grabbed the file, and walked over to her. He placed the file in front of her and said, "I've made a promise to you, so I'll see it through."

After a while, he added, "I wasn't lying to you."

Melody hesitated for a second before picking up the file on Calista Trudeau—one of the top-rated lawyers at Zephyr Law Group.

Attached to her profile were all the cases that she had handled. One of them even involved an award-winning actress who was still very famous.

Melody was suddenly at a loss for words. Her mind went completely blank as she held onto that file.

She had taken several days to finally convince herself not to trust Jeremy, and even started to imagine her life without him.

The file in her hand felt as if it weighed tons, and Melody didn't quite know what she was supposed to do.

Jeremy finally broke the silence by tapping his fingers on the table. "I've arranged a meeting with Calista this morning."

Melody looked up at him, and the emotions swirling through her eyes made Jeremy frown deeply. Meeting his dark eyes, she took a moment before asking, "Why are you doing this? Aren't you very against me going after Dennis?"

For some reason, Melody's comment left Jeremy a little displeased. It sounded like she was suspicious of him.

His throat suddenly felt dry.

In a low voice, he explained slowly, "I just didn't want to go back on my promise."

Regardless, the matter of hiring a lawyer had been taken care of. Melody wasn't going to be fussy by refusing Jeremy's help either.

She lowered her head, planning on finishing her breakfast before leaving to meet Calista.

Melody and Jeremy arrived at Zephyr Law Group right on time.

She handed Calista all the evidence related to Dennis and told her everything that had happened.

Calista was a woman in her early forties. She had short hair and was dressed in a black suit, and she came across as very competent and efficient.

After she looked through everything, she nodded expressionlessly.

"I've caught up for now, but I still want to ask—are you sure you don't want to consider settling this privately?"

Melody clenched her fists. "No. I want them to apologize to me publicly."

Everyone who knew her often said she had a soft-hearted personality and was too easily bullied. She had always believed that as long as she didn't provoke others, she could live her life in peace.

However, she was now slowly realizing that others had bullied her because she was too soft-hearted. They even felt justified when doing so.

She turned to look at Jeremy. "Do you see it now? The things Dennis did were against the law." Then, she bit her lip before continuing, "If I could, I'd want to sue Krystal as well. She's basically his accomplice."
