A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 197

Instinctively, Melody frowned. "How's that possible?"

Andrew firmly replied, "What's so impossible about it? Mr. Grant caught them red-handed. Otherwise, why'd you think they were here?"

Melody looked at the man standing beside Andrew. He was dressed in a nice suit, wore glasses, and looked to be in his 40s. He looked every bit the shrewd businessman.

Sebastian Grant's eyes were piercing. He looked at Melody and Tiffany in disdain before sneering. "I don't know what kids like you are thinking about. Celestial Group has been operating in Jembina for 15 years, and this is the first time we've been accused of fraud.

"I've already explained the orphanage incident to Mr. Wardolf. That was only an accident, and we've also given appropriate compensation."

Sebastian narrowed his eyes. "However, I'm not one to be messed with either. Don't think for a second that you're untouchable. No one slanders Celestial Group and gets away with it!"

Melody wordlessly listened to his pompous, self-righteous words.

If Denvin hadn't shown her the evidence, she probably wouldn't have believed that Sebastian could do something like that either—especially not after hearing how indignant he sounded.

However, she didn't refute anything either. The most important thing right then was to bail Felicia and Jason out.

Melody turned to look at the two of them.

Exhaustion was painted across both their faces, and dark circles were visible under their eyes.

Clearly, they hadn't had a good few days.

Melody had questions, but Felicia looked up right then and gave a small shake of her head.

So, she changed tactics and asked, "What do I need to do to take them home?"

Sebastian immediately answered, "Have them delete everything from their cameras. Those are all Celestial Group's company secrets."

"What company secrets?" Felicia scoffed before continuing to taunt, "We were just taking some scenic photos by the warehouse. How are those company secrets exactly? Or do you actually have something inside the warehouse that you don't want anyone to see?"

Sebastian's face darkened. "Ms. York, even with the York family behind you, I refuse to be wrongly accused by you!"

But Felicia showed no sign of fear. She stared Sebastian down and enunciated her next words carefully, saying, "You're one stubborn man, Mr. Grant. Since you're so certain, how about we have the police determine whether these photos are scenic shots or Celestial Group's so-called company secrets."

Jeremy's eyebrows instinctively furrowed.

Now that Jeremy was there, Andrew's expression had gentled considerably. He exhaled a long sigh. "Jeremy, I'm not trying to make things difficult for Melody. It's just that her friends were too bold and reckless for wanting to steal something from Celestial Group's warehouse—"

Andrew hadn't finished speaking when a low, magnetic voice interrupted him, saying, "Be careful with your words, Mr. Wardolf. I doubt a family member of mine would stoop so low as to do something as unseemly as stealing."

The man who spoke was in his early 30s. He was tall, broad-shouldered, and had chiseled features, with especially dark, penetrating eyes.

He was dressed in a shirt and pants, and there was a refined demeanor about him. Yet, he also exuded a sense of dominance that only came from being in power.

The man was none other than Felicia's brother-in-law, Zachary Stanton. He was an honorary professor at Jembina School of Medicine, as well as a renowned cardiothoracic surgeon.

Zachary blankly stared at Andrew and Sebastian. "Do the two of you think that we Stantons and Yorks can't afford to get Felicia what she wants?"

The Stantons were notorious for being overly protective of their own. Moreover, the Yorks alone might not have been a big deal, but now, with the Stantons in the mix, Sebastian couldn't help but reconsider things.
