A Whisper that went unheard novel Chapter 154

Melody was talking to Denvin at Regallo Group when Andrew called her and told her to go back to the Wardolf residence.

Denvin raised an eyebrow. "Great. We can go home together."

Melody hesitantly said, "About the foundation…"

Denvin halfheartedly responded, "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone that the investigation is still ongoing. That said, are you sure you don't want to quit? Madam Callahan's given up, and so should you."

Melody was stunned when she heard what he'd said. "I refuse to think that things should end this way."

When she arrived at the Wardolf residence with Denvin, Jeremy and Krystal were also there.

Jeremy's gaze darkened when he saw Melody walking next to Denvin.

As it happened, it was time for dinner too. After everyone took their seat at the table, Andrew said, "Today's a great day! I've called you all back today to celebrate because the Regallo Charity Foundation's recent dilemmas have come to a satisfying end."

Melody was immediately stunned. Then, Andrew asked her, "Melody, why do you look so glum?"

Melody raised her head and saw the benevolent smile on Andrew's face, but she could also see the hint of triumph beneath it too.

Her hands trembled slightly as she held her wine glass. She hesitated to raise it.

Denvin glanced at her and absentmindedly chimed in, "Why should she be happy about the resolution of the foundation's dilemmas? It's not like she's getting a promotion or raise for it.

"If you want to cheer her up, transfer a million dollars to her right now. That would certainly turn her frown upside down."

Andrew shot a look at Denvin. "Why do you always say such nonsense?"

Melody lowered her gaze and pursed her lips without saying anything.

Andrew then glanced at her once more before deciding to change the topic. He didn't call them here for this anyway.

After clearing his throat, he asked Jeremy in a decidedly much gentler tone, "Jeremy, your mom's birthday is around the corner. Right?"

Melody swept her gaze across her surroundings, but she didn't see Jeremy. Just as she was about to ask, Ophelia nonchalantly said, "Don't bother looking for him. He got called back to the hospital when he was on his way here."

Embarrassed, Melody said, "I wasn't looking."

Ophelia helplessly said, "You're more obstinate than I thought, and you just had to have feelings for a guy like Jeremy. There's nothing good about him. I mean it. He fails, hard.

"You're better off getting to know my nephew from my mother's side of the family. I'll introduce you two to each other some time."

Suddenly, they heard a man's cold voice say, "Ms. Thompson, I don't think my character has anything to do with you."

Melody turned around and saw Jeremy standing near them, emotionless as ever.

The moment their eyes met, her heart clenched.

Jeremy's gaze was particularly frigid.
