Melody had fair skin and was prone to scarring, so even the slightest pressure left marks on her body.
Jeremy looked at the red mark on her wrist, feeling a bit uncomfortable. He had lost control of his emotions again.
She was still waiting for his response. After a while, he spoke, "The patient in the special ward needs surgery, and the director wants me to assist. I'd like you to join as well."
This surgery was risky, and Benson had warned Jeremy many times to be cautious, as the patient's identity was very special.
To make the surgery perfect, every detail, including the process and the personnel, was crucial.
The person he trusted most to work with was Melody. With her there, he wouldn't waste a single second.
Melody hadn't expected this and hesitated for a moment.
Due to her ear condition, when she returned to her department, she had already told Benson that she would no longer go into surgery.
Jeremy could see her hesitation and asked in a low voice, "Don't you want to?"
She shook her head. "I'm just worried about my ear, and I promised Dr. Turner I wouldn't get back into surgery."
He looked at her, his dark eyes reflecting her image as if they were a lake, mirroring her every move. He watched her for a moment before saying slowly, "But I need you."
"I need you."
Those words struck her heart, making it uncontrollably waver. Her hand tightened slightly, but she didn't dare to agree too easily.
This was a life-and-death matter.
She was worried that her involvement might cause something to go wrong. She said softly, "I'll see Dr. Turner tomorrow. If he thinks I'm okay, I'll get a check-up with Dr. Jangger. If everything's fine, then I'll agree."
Jeremy looked at her.
In reality, Melody wasn't the first choice for this surgery. After all, they had to ensure everything was 100% safe.
Yet, when he was making the list, he still added her name. He only mentioned it because of Denvin's provocation, which had made him lose control of his emotions.
When Jeremy saw Melody seriously considering it, he lowered his lashes and chose not to tell her the full details. He said softly, "You're right. It also needs Dr. Turner's approval."
Just then, Harold handed over the menu. "Melody, Jeremy, what do you guys want to eat? Can you stop whispering?"
Jeremy didn't move. "Up to you."
Jeremy said, "She can't drink."
Denvin said, "She doesn't drink."
The waiter and Melody both felt a bit awkward.
Denvin glanced at Jeremy. "Dr. Chesson, you're being so nosy that you even control whether she drinks or not."
Jeremy remained calm. "Drinking isn't a healthy habit."
With a smile, Denvin stood up. "You're right, but we have to leave now."
Then, he turned to Melody. "Let's go."
Melody hadn't really been in the mood to eat anyway. She nodded, grabbed her things, and stood up.
After thinking for a moment, she said to Jeremy, "I'm going to the Regallo Group with Denvin for something. I might not come home tonight."
Jeremy's eyelids twitched. He lifted his gaze to look at Melody.
