A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6740

The steward narrowed his eyes slightly. He picked up one of the jade slips and extended his spirit sense into it. The smile on his face froze.

Recorded within the slip was a celestial cultivation method for Golden Immortal Level Nine, making it immensely valuable.

He picked up a second, then a third, and a fourth. Every jade slip contained a high-level cultivation method, and every enchanted artifact was top-grade or even supreme-grade.

"All of this..."

The steward's voice trembled. "Sir, are you certain you wish to sell all of these cultivation methods?"

"Why? Won't you take them?" Jared asked calmly.

"We will! Of course we will!"

The steward nodded repeatedly. "But this transaction is too large for me to authorize. Please wait here while I fetch the manager."

A short while later, a slightly plump middle-aged man emerged from the back room. He wore a dark blue robe embroidered with silver patterns and had the shrewd smile of a seasoned merchant.

He approached the counter and swept his gaze over the weapons and jade slips, a sharp gleam flashing through his eyes. "Gentlemen, I am Sterling, the manager of the Void Chamber of Commerce's Twentieth Firmament branch. These goods are all of exceptional quality."

"Give me a figure," Jared said.

Manager Sterling considered the items for a moment. He carefully examined a golden longsword, then probed the contents of a celestial cultivation jade slip. His expression grew more animated with every passing second.

He put the jade slip down and raised five fingers. "Five million high-grade spirit crystals. That is the highest price I can offer."

Master Veridian sprang to his feet. "Five million? Do you take us for beggars? This sword alone is worth at least three million, and that Golden Immortal Level Eight cultivation method is worth no less than two million!

"There are more than a dozen enchanted weapons and over 20 cultivation jade slips here, yet you offer five million? Do you think we've never traded before?"

Manager Sterling's smile stiffened. "You are correct, sir. Sold separately, each item could indeed command such a price. But since you're selling so many at once, surely you must leave us some room to make a profit. How about... six million?"

"Eight million," Master Veridian countered.

Master Veridian sprawled in a chair with his legs crossed. "That's the price. If it doesn't suit you, we'll find another buyer. Your establishment has branches everywhere."

Manager Sterling studied Master Veridian's unyielding expression, then glanced at Jared's violet eyes, which were so calm that the depths behind them were impossible to fathom.

At last, he sighed. "Seven million. That is my absolute limit. Any higher and I will lose money."

Master Veridian looked at Jared, who gave a slight nod.

"Agreed."

With seven million high-grade spirit crystals in hand and all the resources they had already kept from the spoils, they now had enough to live comfortably in the Twenty-First Firmament for a long time.

There was another, more important advantage. Under the Void Chamber of Commerce's rules, a large transaction qualified the client for a VIP token. With it, the client could obtain special services and priority access to intelligence at any branch.

Manager Sterling presented Jared with a silver token. "Sir, this is our VIP token. If you ever require intelligence or any other assistance, show it at any branch of the Void Chamber of Commerce and you will receive preferential service."

Jared slipped the silver token into his Storage Ring.

He and Master Veridian left the Void Chamber of Commerce and walked beneath the last rays of daylight in the Twentieth Firmament.

Night was falling. Pale golden twilight spilled across the streets, lending gentle color to a city that had endured days of turmoil.

"Mr. Chance," Master Veridian said, his usual flippant grin replaced by an unusually serious expression, "when do we leave?"

"First thing tomorrow morning."
