A Man Like None Other (Jared Chance) novel Chapter 6615

...

While the Eighteenth Firmament was still reeling from the recent bloodshed, the upper ranks of the celestials in the Nineteenth Firmament had already gathered behind closed doors.

Power in the Nineteenth Firmament was nothing like the Eighteenth.

Down in the Eighteenth, a few large forces, such as the Hall of Radiance and the Ember God Palace, had been enough to dominate the board. The Nineteenth Firmament was far larger, more than ten times the size, and its celestial factions were scattered across the continent like stars. Some ruled enormous territories. Others held only small domains. In total, there were hundreds of them.

Those factions normally fought, plotted, and undercut one another.

Today, they sat at the same table.

Because the Eighteenth Firmament had suffered a disaster that no one in the Nineteenth could ignore.

One celestial force after another had been wiped out.

The Hall of Radiance was gone.

So was the Ember God Palace.

Both had been destroyed by the same man.

Jared.

A young cultivator with no past fame. A wandering adept of the Aureate Way. A monster rumored to wield chaotic force.

The meeting was held in the Golden Crow clan's territory.

Their council chamber had been built entirely from scarlet-gold Golden Crow divine stone. Golden Crow totems filled the walls, each carving so vivid that it looked ready to spread its wings. In every bird's eye sat a genuine top-grade fire spirit crystal, throwing out searing light beneath the lamps.

In the center of the chamber stood a huge round stone table.

Ancient sigils covered the tabletop. They rotated slowly, releasing subtle pulses of spatial power. This was a cross-firmament message array, designed to draw the projected forms of faction leaders from across the Nineteenth Firmament into one place.

Every seat around the table was filled.

Or rather, every seat held a projection.

Dozens of figures ringed the table. Every one of them carried a frightening presence. The weakest had reached Golden Immortal Level Five. The stronger ones stood at Golden Immortal Level Seven.

One had reached Golden Immortal Level Eight.

That was Corvin Skyreach, chief of the Golden Crow clan.

Golden Immortal Level Eight.

In the Nineteenth Firmament, that realm was the ceiling. Very few people could climb that high.

Corvin appeared as a middle-aged man with firm features and a hard, commanding brow. His bearing alone marked him as someone used to being obeyed.

He wore a scarlet-gold robe embroidered with Golden Crow totems. Each thread had been woven from Golden Crow feathers, so the fabric flashed with fine golden light whenever he moved.

His eyes were red-gold. In the depths of his pupils, a cluster of golden fire burned with a slow, steady glow.

That was the reflection of Golden Crow divine fire, the mark of his bloodline.

"Is everyone here?"

His voice was low, but it entered every ear with perfect clarity.

The authority in it was natural. No one in the chamber dared make light of him.

An elder in silver robes answered, "Ronan Thunderfall of the Thunder God clan has not arrived."

The words had only just fallen when the sigils at the center of the chamber flared.

A silver projection formed from the light.

The man who appeared was broad-shouldered and powerfully built, with rough features and a violent air around his brows. Thick arcs of lightning wound over him like silver pythons, snapping and crackling with every movement.

Golden Immortal Level Eight.

Ronan Thunderfall, chief of the Thunder God clan.

"My apologies. I was delayed."

His voice rolled through the chamber like muffled thunder. He looked around, then turned his gaze to Corvin. "Clan Chief Skyreach, what required such urgency?"

Corvin tapped the tabletop with one finger.
