A Life Beyond Limits novel Chapter 1008

"I don't care about the goddamn consequences! Hitting you is pure joy!" Dennis roared. "Everyone, get him! Tear this son of the bitch to shreds!"

The lackeys standing behind Dennis were displeased with Felix's nasty remark. With Dennis taking the lead, they raised their machetes and charged at Felix, who was scared out of his wits.

"Help!" Felix screamed in terror.

Dennis slashed his machete downward, slicing open Felix's skin.

"P-Please don't hurt me anymore," Felix finally wailed and begged.

"You're finally begging for mercy, huh? It's too late!" Dennis shouted, slashing at him again.

Then, with a furious kick, he sent Felix tumbling to the ground.

Felix was no longer aggressive or arrogant—he whimpered through the agony and wailed, "Please stop! I might die under your machete. Please, spare my life!"

Felix was in tears. He never imagined that his foul mouth would land him in such a catastrophe. What made it worse was that the very thugs he had called had turned against him. What a cruel irony.

By the time Emily's assistant's reinforcements arrived at the ambush, they were greeted with a tragic and absurd sight.

Felix, that arrogant fool, was running for his life, chased by men wielding blades. Blood trailed behind him. It was a gruesome sight.

Not far off, the luxury Bentley lay shattered.

Emily's assistant asked, "Who are those people beating Felix up?"

One of the lackeys explained, "They're the reinforcements Felix brought. Felix ran his mouth, so they're teaching him a hard lesson."

Emily's assistant instantly understood what was going on—the men Felix had hired were now punishing him. They had met people who weren't exactly bright, but never someone as foolish as Felix. It was sheer, unadulterated stupidity.

The assistant heard her loud and clear and immediately relayed the order through the phone, "Spare Felix's life, but break his limbs."

Meanwhile, Emily said to Jack, "Jack, get some rest. You must have been frightened these past two days. From now on, let me know when you want to go out—and bring a few bodyguards with you, okay?"

Emily still felt uneasy about what had happened. If anything had happened to Jack, she would never forgive herself for the rest of her life.

Jack nodded. He could tell Emily was truly worried about him. Even though he had escaped from danger, she was still visibly shaken.

After returning to his room, Jack called Myra and Ian. He had met them through Zane and Neil. Anyone close to Zane and Neil was hardly ordinary—their backgrounds were anything but simple.

In reality, their fathers held considerable influence in Tarthy City, and that was exactly what Jack had his eyes on.

If Jack wanted Valery's experience to be fully exposed and gain society's attention, he needed the strength of those powerful connections. So, he picked up the phone and called Myra and Ian, inviting them out for coffee and a chat.
