**Chapter 655**
**Third Person’s POV**
“Firing the household staff? Only those who are utterly destitute resort to such measures. You’ve just been promoted. If you dismiss the staff now, the rumors will fly, and people will assume something dreadful has befallen our pack,” Gloria remarked with a scoff, her tone laced with disdain.
Ulrik felt that familiar, volatile tension rising within him once more, a sensation that had become all too frequent in recent times.
The flicker of hope he had momentarily held—that perhaps peace could settle over their home—was extinguished in an instant, snuffed out like a candle in a gust of wind.
He braced himself, fully aware that the family discord was on the verge of erupting again.
The following day, Ulrik found himself working late into the night, missing the opportunity to purchase the intricate prenatal supplements he had intended to secure. Instead, he turned to Tamara, asking her to visit Digby Medical Center the next day to collect them. While she was there, he also requested that she search for a dependable nanny and a delivery nurse.
Tamara nodded in agreement, understanding that she needed to pick up Rosemary’s medication anyway.
Even though she had stepped back from the responsibilities of pack management, citing health issues, she was acutely aware of the precarious financial situation of the Bloodmoon Pack. The funds in their account were dwindling alarmingly.
The next morning, before setting out, she made her way to the pack’s financial office to request the necessary funds. Upon her arrival, she was taken aback to discover that only a few thousand dollars remained in the account.
She had been aware that their finances were tight, but she had anticipated a balance of at least two or three hundred thousand dollars. After all, Vanya’s family still contributed their income, and with the salaries of Simon, Isaiah, and Ulrik—plus that substantial one-million-dollar bonus they had received—she couldn’t fathom how they could be so low.
Yet, the reality was stark; only a meager few thousand dollars stared back at her from the ledger.
Tamara meticulously combed through every single ledger entry, her heart sinking as she noted where the funds had vanished. A significant portion had gone toward Sabrina’s mating ceremony preparations, Velda had withdrawn a sum, and Gloria’s monthly expenses were shockingly high.
On top of that, there were Rosemary’s medication costs, the salaries for the staff, and the daily food budget that needed to be maintained.
Every single expense was documented and accounted for, but it was Gloria’s spending that left Tamara perplexed.
Ulrik had received a plethora of expensive tonics and supplements during his injury recovery—even Christine had sent a generous amount. Why was Gloria opting to purchase extravagant new supplements when they had perfectly good ones already available?
Tamara was at a loss, and her curiosity compelled her to seek out Gloria for an explanation.
