Chapter 654
From a Third Person Perspective
Back inside their cozy room, Gloria was diligently sewing tiny baby clothes, her fingers moving with practiced ease over the fabric. Ever since their last argument, she had noticeably become more reserved, her usual vibrant energy subdued into quiet focus.
Ulrik felt a flutter of nervousness as he carefully broached the subject of transferring the pack’s management responsibilities to Tamara. His voice was tentative, unsure of how she might react.
Gloria glanced up from her sewing, a teasing edge of mild irritation coloring her tone. “She should be in charge of the pack anyway. It’s not just inconvenient for me to be worrying about it while I’m pregnant, but honestly, it’s never really been my responsibility.”
Relieved, Ulrik exhaled softly and settled beside her, watching the rhythmic motion of her hands threading the needle. “Sewing can strain your eyes. Don’t overdo it. Let the household staff handle it.”
Gloria smiled gently, meeting his gaze. “As the baby’s mother, I feel it’s important to make some things myself — it’s a way to connect.” Her voice was soft but firm.
She continued, “Besides, even though three of us in the pack are earning money now, our expenses are still enormous. Rosemary needs her nutritional supplements all year round to stay healthy, so we have to be careful with our spending.”
Ulrik wasn’t entirely sure why she shifted the conversation toward finances so suddenly, but as long as she wasn’t upset or trying to start another fight, he was grateful. Peace at home was what he craved most.
If they could just maintain calm between them, he believed their life would gradually improve. He wasn’t chasing big promotions or grand successes at the moment — all he wanted was harmony within the family and to keep his current job steady.
“You’re home early today,” Gloria observed, setting her sewing aside. “There’s something I want to discuss. My belly is getting bigger, so we need to start looking for a nanny and hire the best delivery nurse we can find.”
She looked at him seriously. “You know childbirth is risky, like crossing a dangerous hurdle. Did you hear about Melinda’s difficult labor?”
Ulrik nodded, understanding the gravity of what lay ahead. “Yes, I did. So, what’s the plan?”
“We need to go to Digby Medical Center and stock up on nutritional supplements,” Gloria explained. “You can pick them up when you get Rosemary’s medicine.”
Ulrik listened attentively. “What are those supplements called? I can swing by the medical center after work tomorrow.”
“They’re special supplements made for werewolves,” she said. “Get about seven or eight of them. They help if the labor pains get too intense or if I start to run out of energy.”
