Julius immediately echoed Publius’s words, chiming in, “Yeah, what are you afraid of? Let her stay outside and see what she can do!”
Julius worked in the Ministry of Defense’s weapons management department, holding a position that wasn’t particularly high–ranking.
However, being in charge of the day–to–day management of weapons made it a significant role.
He had originally planned to head back to the Ministry of Defense today, but upon hearing that Adelaide had brought people to visit their pack, Publius ordered him to stay home.
He had no choice but to have someone call in sick for him at the Ministry.
As for the other members who held government positions, they had left early and were already at work.
Julius had a temperament very similar to Publius’s, being extremely irritable and impulsive.
His failure to get a promotion over the years was largely due to this personality trait.
Yet, Publius particularly admired this aspect of him, seeing it as a sign of decisive and bold action.
In Publius’s view, having a bit of a temper was essential to command respect and maintain authority.
So, after Julius finished speaking, Publius cast an approving glance his way before turning back to lecture Cassius, “When will you ever have half Julius’s courage? Only then can I trust you with the pack. Otherwise, with your overly cautious approach, you’ll eventually drag the pack into misfortune.”
Cassius had long grown accustomed to his father’s scolding, feeling neither anger nor grievance.
He maintained a calm tone and patiently reasoned, “We don’t need to be confrontational with her. Since she’s not just here to question us but has also visited other packs, it’s better to cooperate than to create unnecessary tension. There’s no need to make things so strained, is there?”

“Pathetic!” Publius shot him an irritated look, his disappointment even more palpable.

Julius spoke up with an arrogant expression, “Our pack has never had much to do with Madison’s manor. What does she want from us? She’s just here to show off her power, to make everyone see that she can come and go as she pleases in the Mist Shadow Pack, and no one dares to stand up to her.”
He snorted coldly and continued, “She’s using us to establish her authority! Alpha Germain spends most of his time in the Blue Ridge State, yet she went to the Blue Abyss Pack first. Isn’t that a clear case of bullying the weak and fearing the strong? By the way, she didn’t even visit the Wall family but came to our Mist Shadow Pack first. Isn’t that just picking on the easy targets?”
Publius had always been most receptive to Julius’s opinions, and he himself had thought along similar lines, even voicing such sentiments before.
Once Julius finished speaking, the others nodded in agreement, mainly because Publius had already shown his support, and he was never sparing with his approving glances towards this
son.
Cassius’s objections seemed rather feeble in comparison.
Nevertheless, he persisted in voicing his viewpoint, “You’re mistaken. The Capital Guard has its own procedures for investigations. Gamma Adelaide has also made contributions on the Southern Border. If she lacked capability, Lycan Erasmus wouldn’t have broken with tradition to entrust her with such an important role.”
“Moreover, the case she’s assisting with isn’t an ordinary one–it’s a treason case. She could have summoned us to the Ministry of Justice for questioning, but she didn’t. Instead, she came here in person and even waited outside the pack for almost an hour. This shows she’s given us ample respect.”
“Also, Father, the case involves a wide range of people. They likely don’t have much extra time. If it weren’t necessary to visit in person, they wouldn’t have come.”
“So I think we should invite them in and cooperate fully with their inquiries. If she really wanted to use us to assert her authority, as you say, there would be no need to wait outside for so long. This isn’t about asserting authority; it’s more like showing respect to our pack. She’s showing respect to you, Father……”
Publius grew increasingly agitated as he listened to Cassius’s long–winded explanation. He raised his hand and barked, “Shut up! If she truly respected us, she wouldn’t have come at all! What dealings do we have with Madison?”
“But we do have some past interactions…….” Cassius tried to argue further.
