Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 77

Henry headed back to his office right after the meeting. He strode elegantly. He had gotten used to both their presences in his office. After sitting through a meeting for the entire morning, he could not wait to see them.

When he entered the office, he scanned around, but the mother-daughter pair was nowhere to be seen.

Why were they not in the office?

Henry’s face dropped and he frowned. He took his phone out and made a call, looking displeased.

Where did she go? Did she take orders without his permission?

“Sorry, the number you have called is unavailable…” A sweet robotic voice sounded from the other end.

She would not switch off her phone if she were out taking orders.

If she was not working, where would she go?

Henry searched for them in the pantry to no avail. He turned around and walked out.

When Shaun saw the chairman walking toward the office, he called Monique immediately, but her phone was turned off.

He felt that something was not right. Given Monique's request earlier, she would not have turned off her phone. Could her phone battery have died? Did something happen to her?

Should he inform the chairman?

The chairman treated her unlike any other woman.

While he was hesitating if he should inform the chairman, he saw him walk toward him with an icy glare.

“Where did they go?” Henry asked in a commanding voice.

“Angel, are you okay? Did they do anything to you?” Monique struggled to keep her eyes open while she searched for Angel.

She was relieved to see her right beside her. Her hair was a little messy and both her hands and legs were tied together.

“Mommy, you’re awake! I’m fine!” Angel exclaimed. She was so worried when she did not react to her calls for so long.

Monique slowly regained her senses. Her vision grew clearer and she scanned their surroundings.

It looked like an abandoned warehouse. There were cobwebs all around them and a rotting stench permeated the air. The warehouse was creepily quiet; no one else was there.

“Angel, did you see anyone when you woke up?” Monique asked as she tried to struggle free. She felt a pain coming from her wrists as they were bound so tightly that the rope was eating into her skin.

She had to get Angel out of here.
