Louise was speechless. This man was a piece of scum.
Monique’s mind cleared up quite a bit after the commotion. She squatted down and picked up the cash scattered on the ground.
“Let’s go back, Louise. Today is not a good day. I don’t want to go out and drink anymore.” There was a dull ache in her heart. She started feeling uneasy when she heard the pretty girl address Henry in such an endearing manner.
Before this, she was already on the verge of breaking down. She was barely keeping herself together. After hearing that, she felt dejected and just wanted to go back to sleep.
Louise glanced at Monique. “Why not? Can you really sleep if you head back? Rather than suffering from heartaches, we should drink to numb our senses.”
Louise had just gone through a breakup. Whenever she thought of the amount of money spent on him, the frustration in her chest grew. She got even madder when that piece of scum hit them.
Moreover, Monique would start shedding tears whenever Henry’s name was mentioned. She would just hide in her room and cry if they went back. How would she be able to sleep?
At that moment, there was an unoccupied taxi approaching them. Louise quickly signaled it to stop.
Monique had no choice but to follow her. She was worried about Louise going to the bar alone after drinking so much wine.
“We’re going to Brewery Drop,” Louise yelled.
Brewery Drop!
Monique said, “I think that guy was also heading to Brewery Drop. Let’s go to another place just in case we bump into them again.”
The driver was a kind man. Seeing that they were dressed up nicely and slightly drunk, he advised them, “You guys should head home if you’re drunk. It’s not safe to go to the bar at this hour.”
Monique opened her eyes, her head thumping. She thought that the driver was right and said, “Louise, let’s go back.”
“We’re already here, there’s no turning back!” Louise retorted. She seldom visits the bar. The only time she went was a few days ago when she broke up with her boyfriend and wanted to drown her sorrows with alcohol.
The heart would be numbed after a few glasses.
Monique was so sad. Maybe she would be fine the next day after drinking.
Louise handed the money to the driver and said, “Uhm, thanks. We’ll be heading back in a bit.”
