The atmosphere in the meeting room froze over. Mandy stared at the chat records on her phone and hesitated if she should tell him about it.
‘Never mind, I’ll tell him after the meeting,’ Mandy thought.
From the conversation earlier, everyone in the meeting room understood something: the chairman was cheated on and the lover would be chased out of B City very soon.
Mandy did a simple briefing about the negotiation that happened that afternoon and gave out a copy of the proposal for everyone to read: triple the price to purchase the kindergarten, enlarge the school ground, and to increase and improve the kindergarten’s facilities and security. The plan even promised to not increase any fees in a short period of time.
Madelyn read the terms and conditions that were written on it and thought anyone could have easily agreed to it. They cheated on Mr. Moore, yet the chairman did not crush them. He even gave him a large sum of wealth to leave B City. Since when did the cruel chairman become so generous? Was this the chairman she knew?
The chairman that she knew would demolish the place and kick that man out of there. Nevertheless, that was not the only strange point. This handsome man named Simon did not accept the offer. Even when Miss Gray went to negotiate with him, he declined without hesitation. Was he trying to extort money from the chairman?
Henry looked at them as they discussed for a while, but nothing was desirable.
“If triple is not enough, then make it ten times. If he refuses, then make him learn it the hard way.” Henry sneered, his aura intimidating. The atmosphere was cold and eerie, as if it was emitted from the demons that lurked in the haunted woods. The people in the meeting room were freezing; they regretted not bringing their blankets along.
“What?” Henry frowned.
Mandy could feel the blade pierce through her bones. Her hands were shaking. She felt so frustrated. What had she done to deserve this. This kind of mess was usually handled by Shaun, was it not?
Her hands were trembling when she gave him her phone. Henry was enveloped with rage. He nearly crushed her phone when he saw the content. Monique and Simon were smiling happily in it; these scenes were already imprinted in his mind, including the time they were in Celestial Town where she was in Simon’s arms. They looked so happy together, and her smile was full of joy. If he had not appeared that day, would she have followed him to a hotel?
