Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 385

Angel raised her chubby arm and covered her face with an open palm. Her eyes twinkled in faux surprise as she smiled.

It was all thanks to Angel’s sacrifice and perseverance.

As long as her mother gave in to her father, they would be a happy family.

When Henry released Monique, her face was as red as a baboon’s butt. She did not meet his eyes.

She looked down and was met with Angel’s knowing stare.

Monique raised her head and saw Mrs. Lawson giving her an affectionate smile.

She faked her composure and said, “Then…Let’s go to school…”

She took Angel’s hand and turned to leave.

“I don’t have my bag!” Angel said.

With her escape plan foiled, Monique stopped in her tracks. Henry noticed she was avoiding his gaze and grinned.

Mrs. Lawson brought the school bag to Angel. Then, Monique took her daughter’s hand on one side while Henry took the other.

Together, the three of them walked out of the house.

It was not the first time Monique felt that they were a family.

On Angel’s first visit to the kindergarten, they went together as a three-member unit.

The happiness on Angel’s face was evident. There was an extra spring to her step and the smile on her face never faltered.

Rejection was not an option.

Angel’s intense stare reminded Monique of Henry’s words at breakfast. ‘I want a bite.’

The gentle kiss he gave her this morning was surprising but sweet. Henry was irresistibly charming when he was a gentleman.

“Of course dear,” Monique nodded.

Monique wanted to always be there for Angel. On the first day of school, Monique was abandoned by the side of the road without her purse and phone. So, she picked her daughter up on foot. On the second day, she was caught up with work and forgot to pick Angel up. Angel got into trouble on the third day as well. As for the day before, Monique took her daughter home herself. It was a Friday. If having both Henry and Monique there would make Angel happy, Monique would do it.

It was a tough week for Angel at the new kindergarten. It would be great if they could end the week well for Angel.

Angel got her mother’s agreement. She turned to stare at Henry. “Daddy, can you pick me up with Mommy today?”
