Monique was startled but nodded at last, "Alright, I'll pick you up earlier tomorrow."
Angel finally put on a smile on her face, "I want a burger, ice-cream, and French fries."
"Ok." Monique smiled and was ready to ignite the car.
"Fate brought us together outside the troubled times, yet destiny brought us to love in the hardest times…" Monique's handphone rang.
Monique beamed at her handphone and said to Angel, "It's from Mrs. Lawson."
"Hi, Mrs. Lawson." Monique answered in a gentle tone.
"Monique, why aren't you back home yet? It's already so late." Mrs. Lawson inquired anxiously.
Yesterday, Monique did not have her handphone and cash with her. Hence, she ended up walking all the way home. Now, Monique was still not home despite the late hours. That made Mrs. Lawson worried.
"Mrs. Lawson, I'm fine. I'm taking Angel out for dinner. You don't have to prepare dinner for us. Please have your dinner early as well." Monique replied.
Mrs. Lawson said, "Thank God you’re alright, please come home earlier."
"Alright, thank you, Mrs. Lawson. Bye."
Monique took Angel to get her burger. By the time they reached home, it was already very late at night.
Mrs. Lawson was thrilled to see Monique back home, "Monique! Angel! You're back!"
"Mrs. Lawson!" Angel let out a sweet smile while her glittering, big eyes wandered around the hall, "Is daddy back yet?"
Monique faced Mrs. Lawson with a smile, "Mrs. Lawson, can you please help me to shower Angel? I still have work that’s yet to be done. I want to head upstairs to get it done."
Mrs. Lawson gently smiled, "Sure. Angel, let's go take a bath alright?"
Angel shook her head while her lips pursed. Her big teary eyes looked at Monique with a grievance as she said, "I don't want, I want mommy to shower me."
"Mommy, I want you to shower me." Angel's mouth puckered as she said it with a coquettish tone.
Monique's heart melted after seeing Angel's cute expression. However, it was not that she did not want to spend more time with Angel. Monique wanted to work even harder so that Angel would have a better life in the future.
Monique was terrified. The more she was apart from Henry, the greater the impact will be on Angel.
"Angel, you're a big girl now. Didn't the teachers say that you have to do things on your own? How about having Mrs. Lawson set up the bathtub for you. Then, you can shower by yourself?" Monique said with a gentle tone as she looked at Angel.
