Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 286

Charlotte raised an eyebrow and smiled. “Not someone you want to fool with. Just treat her well and nothing bad will befall you.”

“So secretive. Come on, give me a hint!” Jacob said.

Monique’s identity was not a secret. Maybe if Jacob knew who she was, he would treat her better. “You’re such a gossip, can’t you tell who she is?”

“I only have eyes for you,” Jacob said flirtatiously.

He scanned through his memories.

“Nonsense! She’s the female driver that everyone’s talking about,” Charlotte said in a hushed voice.

“The chairman’s woman? Why is she in the planning department?”

“Hush. I’ll update you through text. Get back in there!” Charlotte urged him.

Jacob frowned. He needed to act as their eyes.

Having an important person in the office was a nuisance.

Charlotte left for the personnel department. Her job was done.

Manager Harper made a call to the chairman while Charlotte was away.

He ran through different versions of the script in his head before making the call.

The dial tone rang for a good while before someone picked up and said, “Hello.”

A deep, masculine voice came from the other end. There was not an ounce of warmth in the man’s tone.

Manager Harper felt a shiver down his spine as he said, “Chairman Moore, Miss Xander has completed the employee induction and is reporting for her first day of work.”

He leaned back against the black leather couch and crossed his legs in a relaxed position.

Manager Harper could not see Henry Moore’s expression but he imagined it to be as uncompassionate as the iceberg that sank the Titanic.

The chill he felt from the chairman’s voice made him worry for his career.

“She chose to be an aide in the planning department. She wants to learn the basics and work her way up,” Manager Harper forced out the words.

He did not know how else to put it.

Learn the basics and work her way up!

Henry was genuinely surprised but he held his tongue. If the woman wanted to go about it the hard way, he did not want to stand in her way.
