Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 277

Monique blushed as she answered, “My name is Monique Xander. I don’t know what position I’m applying for.”

It was a ludicrous answer. An applicant who did not know what position she was applying for?

Manager Harper stared at the woman.

“Can you repeat yourself?” He needed confirmation. Was his ears or his eyes malfunctioning?

The woman in his office was soft-spoken and polite. She was unlike her cousin, Yvonne Xander, who came by the day before.

He imagined the woman to be foxy and melodramatic.

Maybe someone arrogant and snobbish…

Manager Harper stole a few glances downstairs but his short-sightedness meant all he saw was a blurry silhouette.

The request made Monique nervous. She took a deep breath and said, “Hi, my name is Monique Xander. I was told by the chairman to report here.”

Monique explained the situation in hopes to avoid an awkward situation.

Manager Harper smiled knowingly and said, “You’re the chairman’s…Yes, the chairman did inform me about your arrival. Why don’t you come with me.”

He invited Monique into his office with a smile plastered across his face. He wondered if the woman was a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Was she going to stab him in the back?

Confusion flickered past Manager Harper’s face before he replied, “You can call me Harper. Sit, I’ll get you coffee.”

“I have water, don’t trouble yourself.” Monique waved her hands to indicate a refusal.

Manager Harper went to the break room and made a cup of coffee as he ignored her reply. He respectfully presented the cup to Monique, “Miss Xander, here you go.”

Monique’s nervousness was amplified by the man’s unexplained hospitality. She took the coffee and said, “Thank you, thank you.”

To disguise her anxiety, she took a sip of the beverage and unfortunately scalded her tongue.
