Wrong Ride, Right Lover novel Chapter 172

Monique looked down at the baggy clothes she was wearing. She could not refute the man’s accusation.

It was Yvonne’s choice of wardrobe, not hers. Her cousin wanted her to look unpresentable for the date.

“You tricked me!” the man shouted accusingly.

Just as Monique opened her mouth to explain, the man grabbed his cup and hurled its contents toward her. The coffee splashed onto her face and dripped into her clothes. It was terribly uncomfortable.

Monique was speechless.

Her date then stormed out of the cafe.

Monique did her best to wipe most of the coffee out of her face before heading to the washroom to clean up.

In the washroom, she stared blankly at the coffee-stained face in the mirror.

She studied the remnants of coffee on her face, arms and torso.

Mrs. Zackery’s nephew stormed out of the cafe, anger bubbling inside him. That woman was below his standards. Was this a set up?

At this moment, his phone chimed.

He unlocked his phone. The incoming message read, “I forgot to mention, Monique has a daughter. Also, when we were leaving this morning, I saw hickeys on her chest.”

The man could not stand being humiliated in such a way. The message sent him charging into the cafe, but Monique was long gone by then.

When Monique left the cafe, the sky was overcast and it was starting to drizzle. She bought some flowers and hailed for a cab to visit her grandfather’s grave.

The weather meant she had the cemetery all to herself.

She stood before her grandfather’s portrait and felt tears pricking at her eyes.

Her mom was taking too long and she was not answering her phone.

That naughty aunt of hers was already back and when her granduncle asked about her mother, the aunt replied with a laugh.

She said Mommy had gone off with the man.

That could not be true.

A loud banging came from outside. Zephyrus ordered his wife to open the door. “Who’s that?”

Zephyrus went to check on the guest. With his attention off of Angel, she quickly ran upstairs with her phone.

Henry Moore was at work when Angel called. When he saw the caller ID, he immediately put his work on pause and answered the phone. “Hello, Angel.”

“Hello, Daddy. What are you doing?”
