Lemira looked at the Langstons, her expression perfectly calm. "Did you bring Evelina?"
Lucian was the first to answer. "She's here. In a few days, Alaric, Caspian, and Rowan are all coming back too."
The truth behind their parents' death was a monumental shift for the Langston family.
Every single one of them had to be present for the fallout.
When Lemira heard Rowan's name, she paused for a brief second. In her past life, being cast aside and despised by her brothers had broken her, but now, it held absolutely no power over her.
Lemira gave no visible reaction. "I hope you all can think clearly when the time comes. Don't go soft just because Evelina sheds a few tears."
Lucian looked slightly embarrassed. "We won't. We're never falling for her lies again."
Asher frowned, clearly annoyed. "Do you really think we're that stupid?"
Evander's expression darkened even further. "I'll keep a close eye on her. She won't pull any more stunts."
Lucian offered an eager, almost placating tone. "Lemmy, right now, we're all on the same side. No one wants to see the Sinclairs pay for this more than we do!"
"I wouldn't be so sure," Lemira shot back, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "If the Sinclair family offered the Langston Group a massive sum of money to bail you out of your financial crisis, I'm sure certain people would be very tempted."
Asher knew the jab was aimed directly at him. He snapped, "What the hell is that supposed to mean, Lemira?"
"Exactly what I said."
Having zero interest in arguing with them, Lemira turned on her heel and walked away.
Lucian grabbed Asher's arm to stop him. "Enough. We're not here to fight. We need to stay united and ensure the Sinclairs pay the price."
Asher gritted his teeth. "For Mom and Dad's sake, I'll let her attitude slide."
The Langstons walked into the station.
Inside, Evelina finally came face-to-face with her father, Hale. But before they could even exchange a word, they were separated for questioning.
Desperate to save her own skin, Evelina played dumb, claiming she knew absolutely nothing.
During his questioning, Hale learned of Evelina's pregnancy and immediately deduced the child belonged to a Langston.
He sighed heavily. What a cursed twist of fate.
True to their original agreement, Hale confessed everything, throwing the entire Sinclair family under the bus.
Evelina rested a hand on her growing stomach, feeling utterly resentful. If she wasn't entirely dependent on their charity, she never would have cooperated.
If only the Sinclair family had actually given her that millions of dollars.
Lucian looked at Evelina coldly. "Since we're all here, you need to give Lemmy a sincere apology. You've done terrible things to her."
Evelina's eyes went wide with outrage. "Me? Apologize? Why the hell should I?"
"Because the Langstons raised you, and because you've caused nothing but destruction. Do you honestly think you don't owe her an apology?"
Lucian's tone was severe.
Evelina shot a desperate glance at Evander, but the useless man kept his head down, refusing to say a word.
Furious, Evelina snapped, "I'm not apologizing to her! You're only taking her side because she managed to hook herself to the Everhart family! But guess what? The Everharts are guilty too! They were involved in the crash!"
Lemira froze, her blood turning to ice.
What?
