Lemira looked up at Asher, her eyes filled with scorn.
Asher's gaze wavered. "I know you feel wronged, but I'll make it up to you."
"I don't need any compensation from you. You want me to back down so you can benefit? In your dreams."
Lemira shoved Asher away and walked off.
Oanice added from the side, "Didn't someone just say Lemira had cut ties with the family? Now that you see she might be useful, suddenly she's family again. Do you really think everyone is a fool?"
Hearing this, Asher's face darkened.
By the time he turned back, Mrs. Amelia had already left with Susanna. A golden opportunity, wasted by Lemira.
Evelina said cautiously, "Asher, maybe you can persuade Lemira to reconcile with the Sinclair family later. It would be bad if this blows up."
Asher stared at Evelina. "Were you involved in this?"
"Asher, what are you talking about? I had no idea. It was that other girl who did it secretly."
Evelina would never admit it now.
Asher looked at Evelina, though he already had a good idea of what happened. His tone was sharp. "Stella and Lemira are on good terms. Stop playing these petty games."
"Asher, why are you yelling at Eve? It's Lemira's bad attitude that makes everyone dislike her."
Evander immediately came to Evelina's defense, taking her hand.
But Evelina pulled away. "Evander, our relationship hasn't been made public yet. We should be more discreet. Today is very important for Asher."
The Draven family would also be at the party today, which meant Dorian might be here. Evelina didn't want Dorian to know about her and Evander.
Asher nodded. "That's right. Evander, come with me and greet some people."
Evander reluctantly let go of her hand. "Alright, Eve. Be careful on your own. If Lemira gives you any trouble, you have to tell me."
"I will. You two go on."
Asher, however, couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong, though he couldn't put his finger on it.
Meanwhile, Lemira and Oanice wandered through the party, stopping by the food section to grab some snacks.
Oanice grinned. "The look on their faces when you showed that video was priceless."
"Yes, and it's all thanks to your quick thinking."
Lemira had sensed something was off, but the moment she saw Oanice sneak off to the side with her phone, she decided to play along.
As she expected, Susanna had brazenly come to cause trouble.
So she decided to deliver a swift and thorough humiliation.
Lemira said, "Actually, everyone here knew what was going on. With the evidence laid bare, the Sinclair family will likely become a laughingstock again."
At the very least, Susanna's reputation as a brainless brat was now firmly cemented.
