Chapter 371
Not long after Leanna left, another whistle blast suddenly rang out from the mountain across the way.
This time, instead of another explosion echoing through the Stone Forest, the assassin who was nearly out suddenly stiffened and collapsed.
Though Jessica couldn’t see clearly, she knew without a doubt that the assassin had poisoned himself.
Now, only one assassin remained!
Jessica peered through her far–seeing glass at the opposite hillside, but could make out nothing in the gloom.
The white–clad figure had vanished without a trace, leaving Jessica no clue as to where he might be hiding.
They’d run into a formidable foe this time, yet failed to get a clear view of his features.
Only one assassin remained. If even this one had been ordered to commit suicide, the Eagle Troops would have been trapped inside with no way out.
Suddenly, Jessica raised her slender fingers to her lips and unleashed a piercing whistle, amplified by her internal strength.
The drawn–out whistle carried an indecipherable message. No one could make sense of it. The assassin halted, bewildered.
He clutched a thunder grenade in his hand, torn between throwing it and not.
The Northern Cavalry, who had just been hot on his heels, were now nowhere to be seen.
The assassin hesitated. ‘Run for my life, or stay put?‘
To die now would be with bitter regret; to escape risked leading the Eagle Troops out as well, ruining everything, and in that case, he’d only meet a far
crueler end.
Just as the assassin hesitated, Jessica distinctly heard a whistle from the opposite high slope. Without missing a beat, she responded with her piercing whistle, channeling her internal strength. The two signals collided in midair, but Jessica’s profound power instantly shattered the opposing whistle.
The assassin below froze for a split second, then turned on his heel and bolted.
No one wanted to die!
But he couldn’t clearly hear his leader’s whistle signal. Since it was unclear, perhaps there was still a chance for him to survive.
Jessica could no longer spare any attention for what was happening below. She kept blowing her finger whistle with all her strength, determined to deny her opponent any chance to relay their signal.
After what felt like an eternity, a flash of white darted across the opposite slope.
Jessica immediately picked up her spyglass and saw Leanna, who hadn’t yet reached the hillside, draw her longbow and fire three arrows in quick
succession.
With a flick of his long sleeve, the white–robed man sent a projectile shooting from his fingertips at blinding speed. The air itself seemed to split as it passed, leaving a sharp, piercing whistle in its wake.
Leanna swiftly rolled across the ground.
Jessica instantly lost sight of her.
Her heart still burned with urgency. The white–clad figure’s martial prowess was terrifyingly formidable, clearly not the sect leader she had seen that night.

Chapter 371
He was far more formidable than the sect leader!
‘Could it be… the legendary Cult Master himself?‘ Jessica thought.
The moment Leanna collapsed, unmoving, Jessica sprang to her feet and hurried down the slope.
Suddenly, another sharp whistle pierced the air.
‘Oh no!‘ Jessica thought with a jolt.
In her frantic concern for Alivia, she forgot to disrupt the enemy’s whistle signals!
