“Leanna, do you have a spyglass?” Jessica asked as she reached for her waist, only to realize she’d left in such a hurry that she’d forgotten to bring hers.
The Stone Forest was even more expansive than Jessica had imagined, with towering boulders that dwarfed any human figure. If Leon and his men were hiding among them, it’d be nearly impossible to spot with the naked eye.
“Here!” Leanna swiftly pulled out a spyglass from her horse’s saddlebag.
Jessica took the spyglass with both hands, carefully scanning the Stone Forest as her brow furrowed deeper with each passing moment.
“What’s wrong? Can’t spot them?” Leanna’s eyes flashed with anxiety.
A hundred men weren’t exactly a large force on the march, so finding them shouldn’t be all that difficult.
The spyglass could bring even the most distant scenes and objects into sharp focus, making every detail crystal clear.
How could Leon’s hundred–man troop just vanish without a trace?
“I can’t find them, Leanna. You take a look.” Jessica handed the spyglass to Leanna, rubbing her tired eyes.
Her eyes grew sore from staring through the spyglass for so long.
Could it be that they had all miscalculated, that Leon’s unit was never in the Stone Forest at all?
Otherwise, how could she possibly have missed a hundred people?
Leanna took the spyglass and scrutinized the area for quite some time, yet she, too, couldn’t spot a single soul.
Sure, these scattered boulders could conceal individuals, but a hundred people? How could they
bly be hidden so thoroughly?
No army could pull that off!
“Jessica, do you think they might have already left the Stone Forest?” Leanna turned to look at her.
Jessica narrowed her eyes in deep thought.
“The formations in this Stone Forest are truly formidable,” Jessica said. “I wonder if anyone in Leon’s team understands the Mystic Trigram Tactical Formation. If so, they might find a way out. Otherwise, escaping would be nearly impossible!”
Leanna remained silent.
But the Stone Forest appeared completely deserted.
But if Leon’s team really had left the Stone Forest, how come they hadn’t heard a single thing from them?
“Jessica, someone’s there!” Leanna’s brow furrowed sharply as she raised the spyglass. “Look, Jessica!”
Jessica took the spyglass and, sure enough, saw people below attempting to enter the Stone Forest.
But from their outfits, it was obvious they weren’t part of Leon’s Northern Cavalry.
“They have thunder grenades!” Jessica’s heart clenched violently.
They were going in to kill!
Though these thunder grenades were few, only three in total, Jessica knew their destructive power would be immense.

If all three were used on Leon at once…
“Leanna, Leon and his men must still be in the Stone Forest,” Jessica said urgently. It was just that they were too well hidden, so neither she nor Leanna
had detected them.
Those men had entered the Stone Forest with uncanny precision–their path never deviated, their steps never faltered, as if they knew exactly how to dismantle the formation.
