Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 2237

Nathaniel clenched his fists, veins bulging on his arms. He shot Dylan a menacing glare, causing him to flinch and fall silent.

Avoiding Nathaniel's gaze, Dylan muttered, "Don't try to intimidate me. It's too late for regret!"

Troy ran from the end of the hallway and whispered in Nathaniel's ear, "Mr. Nicholls, Mrs. Nicholls left the hospital and took a cab. It looks like she's heading back to Ascend Apartment."

Nathaniel was confused, but he quickly realized why Mavis was heading back to the apartment. With a cold expression, he turned and walked briskly toward the hospital elevators.

"Troy, get the car. We need to hurry."

"Yes, sir!"

Before long, the two men quickly disappeared down the corridor.

Dylan stood there, watching Nathaniel's retreating figure with a bitter sneer.

"Dylan..."

The door was still open, and he heard Evan's weak voice calling for him.

He entered the ward and asked, "What is it?"

"Were you talking to Nathaniel? What you said earlier about Mae taking care of me and being with me… is it true?"

"Uh…" Dylan scratched his head, smiling awkwardly. "Well… I was just trying to irritate Nathaniel."

However, he noticed Evan's disappointment and hurriedly added, "But even though Mae didn't say it herself, she's very upset with Nathaniel right now. Besides, you're so badly injured. Mae feels guilty about it, and she probably will do those things. I'm her brother. I've lived with her since we were kids. I know her best. Don't worry."

Evan's weak gaze lacked luster. He could not move, wrapped in bandages like a mummy.

"I hope Mae comes to her senses," he said before coughing violently.

Nathaniel laughed bitterly, his eyes reddening. "What's this about? Are you trying to punish me for Evan because I won't apologize?"

"No. Even without Evan's kidnapping, we would have ended up here eventually. This is just happening sooner rather than later."

"You promised me two weeks. You should keep your word. You can't go back on it."

Mavis retorted, "Why can't I change my mind? Have you kept all your promises to me? You agreed to a date, but I waited all night while you were overseas with Kristen. You promised not to hurt anyone close to me, but how many times have you gone after Evan now?"

Nathaniel's face paled. "Standing you up for our date was wrong, but I wasn't doing anything with Kristen. It was just a coincidence. Yes, I've hurt Evan before, but it wasn't me this time."

Mavis's expression remained blank. "The Kristen incident happened so long ago, and there's no way to prove it now. You can deny it all you want. As for Evan, we both know the truth. There's no point in denying it."

Nathaniel felt a lump in his throat. He did not know what evidence or clues Evan had given them that pointed to him, making him seem undeniably guilty. Yet, his silence appeared like a guilty admission to Mavis.

Disappointed and disheartened, she gave up arguing and tried to pry his hand off the door to close it. However, his grip on the door was firm, his knuckles turning white from the effort.
