Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 2164

Even without her saying anything, Evan could guess what was weighing on her mind.

He gently advised her, "Mae, you can't protect Callum forever. One day, he'll have to stand on his own and live his own life. You shouldn't let other factors cloud your own judgment."

Mavis nodded. "Yeah. Let's not talk about this anymore. Cheers."

Evan had been by her side for the past five years, and he knew she was avoiding the topic.

However, he also knew that running from it would not solve anything, and he silently vowed to help her make the best decision.

The two drank until 2 a.m., and Mavis was quite tipsy, having downed half a bottle of whiskey.

She wandered off to her bedroom, ready to get some sleep.

Evan sat by her bedside, feeling a little exasperated as he pulled the blanket over her.

He mumbled, "Mae really doesn't see me as an outsider, does she? She's not even a little worried I might try something. But since she trusts me this much, I can't let her down."

Evan prided himself on being a gentleman, and he would never do anything without her consent.

"Mae, don't worry. No matter what, I'll always be on your side. Since tomorrow is the big day, let's have an early celebration of being single again…"

He took out his phone and sent a message to an unknown number.

Then, he quietly cleaned up the mess on the dining table before heading upstairs to his own apartment.

It was bound to be a restless night.

At 8 a.m. the next day, Mavis was woken up by her alarm, her head still foggy from the previous night's drinking.

It was time for her to get ready and head to the courthouse.

Even though she was still groggy, her body seemed to have a mind of its own as she headed straight to the bathroom to wash up.

Within seconds, the door opened.

"The reporters are here again."

Evan smiled. "Yeah, I know."

Mavis thought about the situation and commented, "Not many people know about this, not even Tiffany. Could Nathaniel have done this?"

Evan openly admitted, "I leaked the news."

Mavis was shocked. "Why? Don't you want me to divorce Nathaniel?"

Evan could not help but laugh. "What are you saying? I can't wait for you to be free of him. But after what happened at the seafood market, I strongly suspect that it was Nathaniel's doing."

Evan speculated that Nathaniel's goal was likely to make it look like he and Mavis were family in the eyes of the media, to prevent Evan from openly pursuing her after the divorce.

He was definitely impressed with Nathaniel's cunning.
