Wait, She’s a Billionaire (Sheena Lawson) novel Chapter 2163

Another two days passed without Callum around, and Mavis was feeling uneasy.

Her precious son constantly appeared in her mind, and she found herself distracted most of the time.

Nathaniel and Mavis were set to meet at the courthouse at 9 a.m. the next day to finalize their divorce, yet Mavis had trouble falling asleep.

Even though she was anxious, she felt a sense of relief as she was finally breaking free from this marriage.

It was hard to describe the complicated emotions churning inside her.

She tossed and turned, wide awake.

The sudden sound of knocking at the door startled her.

Mavis was annoyed, thinking it was Nathaniel as he had made a habit of showing up at these odd hours.

She reluctantly opened the door and said, "What are you—"

However, her words were cut short.

It was not Nathaniel, but Evan.

Surprised, she asked, "You're still up?"

Evan smiled warmly, holding up a takeout box.

"I figured you wouldn't be able to sleep tonight, so I went out and got us some late-night snacks. Mind if I keep you company?"

Mavis eyed the tempting food in his hands, not saying anything.

Evan had been staying in the Ascend Apartment for a week, and he respected their boundaries and never came by late like this.

Yet, with the divorce set for tomorrow, inviting him in at this hour…

Mavis could not help but think it was a bit inappropriate.

Evan understood her concern and immediately said, "Mae, don't worry. The public thinks I'm your cousin now, remember? I'm just here because I care about you and know you're having trouble sleeping. That's all. No ulterior motives."

He had a point.

Not only had the Nicholls Group successfully handled the rumors, but they also eased the awkwardness she had felt after realizing Evan had feelings for her.

He sighed and asked, "Mae, are you… are you sure you want this divorce?"

"Of course I do. I've been wanting this for the longest time," she replied instantly.

"You seemed so sure before, but you've not been in the best mood the past few days. Are you afraid of something?"

Mavis shook her head. "No."

However, she could not deny that she had moments of doubt only because of Callum.

Callum was only five, and she had missed out on his early years.

When she could finally be with him, he was asked to give up on everything he was familiar with—his father, the entire Nicholls family, and the comforting surroundings he grew up in.

Every time she thought about it, she would feel guilty.

She wondered if this was really the right choice for Callum.

As Mavis got lost in her thoughts, Evan kept observing her.
