Nathaniel hung up on her, clearly annoyed by how fiercely she defended Evan.
"Nathaniel!" Mavis shouted, but it was useless.
She tried calling him back, only to have him ignore her calls.
Soon after, she received a message from Evan's number.
Nathaniel had sent the hotel room location, accompanied by two words.
[Come over.]
Mavis immediately hailed a cab and rushed to the hotel.
Finding the room was not hard as bodyguards were stationed outside, and she recognized Troy among them.
When Troy saw her approach, he bowed politely.
"Mr. Nicholls has been expecting you. Please, go in."
Mavis nodded and pushed open the door.
The room was dark, with thick curtains drawn over the windows, allowing only the dim glow of a blue floor lamp to illuminate it.
The silence was unsettling.
"Nathaniel? Evan?"
Just as Mavis stepped into the room, the door clicked shut behind her.
Troy had closed it from the outside.
The heavy sound of the door closing sent a shiver down her spine, the unknown making her anxious.
She looked around, noticing there was no sign of blood or violence. Instead, there was just the thick smell of cigarettes lingering in the air.
Someone had been chain-smoking, and the smell made Mavis cough.
"Nathaniel? Nat—"
Before she could finish calling his name, a pair of strong hands suddenly grabbed her wrists. In one swift motion, she was yanked to the side.
Everything spun around her before she landed in his arms, her body crashing against his broad chest.
When the strong cigarette smell hit her nose, Mavis instinctively frowned.
Nathaniel was watching her closely, catching every expression.
"You always make that disgusted face around me. It's annoying."
Mavis spoke bluntly, "I remember you quit smoking for Callum. Why are you back at it?"
He stared at her, fueled with intense possessiveness.
"Nathaniel, you're hurting me! You—"
Her words were cut off as his lips crashed down on hers.
The sudden kiss was relentless, giving her no room to breathe or resist.
His teeth bit down on her lips as if he wanted to consume her whole.
Mavis's eyes flew open in shock as she struggled against him, pounding her fists against his chest.
Another forceful kiss?
This man really got a kick out of tormenting her!
Breathing became harder with every second, and she felt suffocated.
Even so, Nathaniel showed no sign of stopping.
It was as though he would not let her go until he had taken everything from her.
Before long, her mind went blank, and he pushed her onto the bed.
