Having children… was not something Mavis could control.
"Alright, alright! I won't tease you anymore. Let's go downstairs and see what Marius and Nate have prepared for you," Gabrielle said.
Mavis originally wanted to take off the necklace around her neck, but Gabrielle kept chattering at her and did not give her the chance.
When they reached the living room, Marius and Nathaniel were deep in discussion.
Gabrielle knocked on the coffee table, annoyed.
"Hey, you two! Can't this wait until tomorrow? Don't you know what day it is? It's Mae's birthday! Where are your gifts? And Nate, you're her husband. Since you told us to come back, you must have prepared a gift for her. She said you remembered her birthday."
Hearing this, Mavis nervously clasped her hands together.
Nathaniel, lounging on the sofa, smiled smugly.
"Do I need your approval for my gift to my wife? Only we can see it. Single people like you wouldn't understand."
"Ugh, keep it secret then!" Gabrielle rolled her eyes, putting an arm around Mavis. "See this necklace on Mae's neck? I gave it to her. It's a limited-edition model, with only two worldwide, and we each have one. Marius, what about you? What did you get for Mae?"
Marius cleared his throat and handed Mavis a black VIP card.
"What I can give, Nate can too. This is for one of my car dealerships. Whenever you have time, pick out any car you like and customize it however you want."
Mavis felt the weight of the card in her hand, marveling at how prestigious families seemed to have no budget for gifts.
Gabrielle whispered excitedly in her ear, "Mae, Marius owns one of the best car dealerships in Froania. If you can't find a car elsewhere, you can find it there. You must pick one you love, and don't hold back!"
Uh…
Mavis felt the weight of the card in her hand grow heavier.
As they were talking, several servants came in carrying a large box filled with flowers.
Mavis noticed his gaze and quickly smiled, saying, "I love them! Thank you so much! Now that Gabrielle and Marius are gone, you don't need to stay here with me if you have other things to do."
As soon as she said that, Nathaniel stood up and headed upstairs.
Even though his demeanor remained cold, the fact that he had bought flowers for her today made Mavis feel content.
The red roses were dazzling, each holding a tiny pearl at its center, making the whole arrangement especially heavy.
Mavis could not help but smile, genuinely delighted.
She took out her phone and started taking pictures of the bouquet from every angle.
Upstairs in his study, Nathaniel watched her through the surveillance, observing as she posed with the flowers.
His mood lifted considerably, and he was pleased that such a simple gesture could bring her so much joy.
