Aishah and Helena were dumbfounded, staring at Nathaniel in his maid outfit, looking him up and down.
They could not help but wonder if he had just returned from some fancy cosplay event.
How else could anyone explain a tall, prestigious CEO wearing a skimpy dress?
Despite the unusual attire, they could not deny his beauty.
Except for being a bit too muscular, his face was downright stunning, making Aishah and Helena feel inadequate in comparison.
Seymour approached, asking, "What's going on here? Mr. Nicholls and I could hear the commotion all the way from over there."
Aishah clumsily got up from the ground, her clothes bearing the imprint of Nathaniel's shoe sole from when he kicked her.
"Mr. Nicholls, you have to do something! Mavis was sweeping the yard, and Helena and I came over to offer our help. But she attacked me with a broom! Helena and the surveillance cameras saw everything!"
Nathaniel's expression was cold, and his deep blue eyes were unreadable.
In the past, his expression that foreshadowed his rage would terrify the other servants.
Yet, dressed in a maid outfit and a wig, Nathaniel seemed like the beautiful but arrogant socialite instead.
Ignoring Aishah, Nathaniel turned his gaze to Mavis, the farthest from him.
"What's your side of the story?"
Aishah shot Mavis a threatening glare, silently warning her to be careful with her words.
Mavis remained composed as she recounted, "Aishah used her position to push the yard work onto me. Then, she and Helena purposely caused me trouble, littering the ground with seeds and kicking over the leaves I had cleaned, so I hit her with the broom. That's when you and Mr. Seymour arrived."
She simply stated the facts without asking Nathaniel to take action against Aishah and Helena, holding the broom with her back straight, unashamed.
"She's lying!" Aishah retorted. "I accidentally tripped over the leaves she swept. Helena was just eating sunflower seeds, and a few fell, which is normal. You heard her admit it herself. She attacked me first!"
Helena nodded in agreement, chiming in, "Yes, Mr. Nicholls. I've been working here for five years, and I've always been honest and diligent."
Nathaniel listened expressionlessly, his voice cold as he questioned Aishah, "Did you order Mavis to sweep the yard the entire afternoon?"
Seymour stated, "Inciting trouble should be dealt with according to the rules of the Nicholls family. They'll each receive ten lashes in the altar room, then clean the yard. They'll be expelled from the Nicholls family tomorrow morning and never rehired."
The lashes were trivial, but Aishah and Helena became visibly agitated when they heard they would get fired.
The Nicholls family offered generous wages and bonuses, but they would not show mercy to servants fired by them.
They would end up on the employment blacklist, making it difficult for them to find work with other prestigious families.
Moreover, small-time, wealthy families who want to curry favor with the Nicholls family might also deliberately target such servants who were fired due to disciplinary issues and drive them out of Svelton.
It was impossible for them to make a living in this city anymore.
Aishah pleaded, "Mr. Nicholls, you can't fire me! Mr. Steffan personally recommended me here. He always wanted me to be a potential candidate for your future marriage. Please, for his sake, spare me this time!"
Nathaniel snorted. "Mr. Steffan doesn't have a say in my family and home. Just because you're here under his recommendation, you act arrogantly. You deserve severe punishment. Besides, someone like you isn't even worthy of being a potential candidate for my marriage."
At the mention of marriage, Nathaniel glanced involuntarily toward Mavis, who stood silently nearby, her eyes lowered in contemplation.
