Unfortunately for Mavis, no matter how attractive she was, she could not win a spot in Nathaniel's heart.
Suddenly, a series of knocking sounds could be heard.
As the knocking sounded, Seymour spoke from outside the door, saying. "Sir, I've brought the hangover drink."
Nathaniel opened the door and saw Seymour holding a tray with two different beverages.
Seymour's eyes crinkled with a smile, and he thoughtfully explained to Nathaniel, "Sir, this is the hangover drink. And next to it is a little something that will keep you and the young lady happy all night long. I took the initiative to prepare one for you."
Nathaniel narrowed his eyes and looked at the extra beverage Seymour had prepared for him.
His expression darkened as he questioned, "Are you doubting my stamina, thinking I need this stuff?"
Seymour was caught off guard and quickly replied, "No, sir. Your stamina is naturally not in question, but… just in case."
Nathaniel's face grew colder. "Leave the hangover drink and take the other one away. If I really want to do something with her, I can manage all night even without it."
"Yes, certainly."
Since his initiative was snubbed, Seymour wisely took away the beverage without further ado.
Nathaniel carried the hangover drink back to the room and patted Mavis's cheek.
"Wake up, you're too drunk. Have some hangover drink, or you'll have a headache tomorrow."
Mavis opened her eyes in a daze.
When she saw Nathaniel, her eyes lit up, and she mumbled, "You're so handsome… so good-looking! Can a wonderful man like you really be my boyfriend?"
Nathaniel stayed silent.
He thought he was far from wonderful, and it would be better to describe him as a demon.
"Drink this."
Mavis did not hesitate.
She was willing to drink it all, even if it were poison.
After sitting on the sofa for over ten minutes, Mavis gradually sobered up.
When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in an unfamiliar environment.
The room was clean and simple yet stylish, and it was definitely not her small apartment.
"This is my room at the Nicholls residence," Nathaniel said.
"I agree," Nathaniel interrupted, casually flicking ash from his cigarette.
"Huh?"
Was he agreeing to what she thought he was?
Nathaniel patiently repeated, "I'll choose you, not for dating, but for marriage."
Mavis thought she had misheard.
Marriage?
Though they had known each other for several years, the time they spent together did not even add up to their date.
Was this considered a whirlwind marriage?
Mavis felt like she had won a huge jackpot, with the man she had admired for years as the grand prize.
Nathaniel observed her reaction and leaned forward slightly, pushing a document from the coffee table to Mavis.
"I'm not in a rush. You can consider whether you want to marry me. Take a look at this before deciding."
