The doctor had said her recovery was going well and she could be discharged today to recuperate at home.
Seeing her get out of bed, Linton's dark eyes constricted. He quickly walked over with the baby, his voice filled with concern.
"Why aren't you resting in bed? You just woke up and you're already on your feet. How are you feeling? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"
The rapid-fire questions bombarded Liliana, making her already foggy head ache even more.
She frowned deeply. Before she could speak, the man in front of her seemed to realize something. He clamped his mouth shut in alarm and carefully presented the baby to her.
Linton's long arms trembled slightly. He looked incredibly nervous, so guilty he hardly dared to look up at her.
"Liliana, please don't be angry."
"I didn't mean to take care of the baby, I just wanted to help…"
Liliana's vision was suddenly filled with the baby's soft, adorable face.
She stood frozen, as if she couldn't believe her own eyes. Her face was pale, her lips trembled, and she asked in a hoarse voice, "Is this…"
Linton quickly prompted her, a gentle smile on his face. "Liliana, this is our… this is your baby. Her name is Amelia Hart, just as you wanted. We call her Amelia."
"Amelia has been such a good girl. She's been missing her mommy. Do you want to hold her?" Linton asked hopefully.
Liliana's head was spinning.
She was still trying to process everything, standing there at a complete loss. She had forgotten how to hold a newborn. She didn't know whether to take her or not, and she was growing flustered.
"I… I…"
Linton understood immediately. He smiled and patiently guided her, carefully handing the baby over. "Liliana, don't worry. I'll show you."
Liliana's attention was now completely on the baby. She stared at her, a mix of excitement and curiosity.
