Liliana remained unconscious for a month.
For the month she lay in the hospital, Linton stayed at home and took care of Amelia Hart.
Over the past month, the baby had grown increasingly familiar with him, and her crying spells became less frequent.
Linton gradually figured out her routine.
He could now basically understand what all the different expressions on Amelia's plump, pale little face meant.
Raising a child was truly difficult.
But Linton enjoyed every moment of it, wishing the baby would grow up even slower.
He was in the nursery playing with blocks with Amelia to pass the time. The baby was very clingy; as soon as she woke up, she wanted Linton to hold her. If he didn't, she'd start crying, and nothing could console her.
Linton had no choice but to carry his daughter with him wherever he went.
*Knock, knock.*
A soft knock came from the nursery door.
Gabriel's tall figure appeared in the doorway.
He looked at the father and daughter sitting on the floor, playing with blocks together in a scene of warm domesticity. He hesitated for a moment, reluctant to break the peace, but finally spoke in a quiet, even tone.
"Liliana's awake."
Linton froze, stunned for a few seconds. He instinctively looked down at Amelia in his arms.
Amelia's soft little hand struggled to pick up a rabbit-shaped block, trying to hold it up for Linton to see. She giggled happily, blowing bubbles.
"Ah… awoo… awoo…"
At only a month old, the baby couldn't speak yet, only managing a few indistinct syllables.
Linton's gaze softened instantly. He scooped Amelia up and cooed to her, "Baby, Mommy's finally awake."
"Daddy's going to take you to see Mommy now, okay? She must miss you very much."
