Thorns Grow After Betrayal (Celeste and Chester) novel Chapter 358

“Good.”

Celestine opened her phone and pulled up her chat history with Flossie.

Yesterday afternoon, Raymond had caused a small explosion in the kitchen.

She had found it both infuriating and hilarious, and sent a picture of the blackened kitchen to their small department group chat.

At the time, Flossie had sent a text to comfort her, followed by a voice message of her laughing loudly.

At 6:09 PM, Flossie had sent a video of herself and Violet eating at a sushi place.

In the video, she was extending an invitation: “Celly! Come join us! The sushi here is amazing! Don’t let your little troublemaker son ruin your mood!”

On the wall behind her was a clock. Although it wasn't perfectly clear, you could roughly see the hour hand pointing just past six.

Celestine looked at Yolande, her voice laced with confusion. “Can you tell me how a person can be eating, recording a video, and chatting while simultaneously editing a company document?”

Yolande’s face went pale. She stammered, unable to say a word.

The office fell silent.

Seeing the video, Flossie burst into tears.

Thank goodness she was a foodie who loved to share everything!

With everything happening so suddenly, she had completely forgotten about the video evidence she herself had recorded.

“That’s right! I left work at five-thirty and went to the sushi place with Violet! At 6:10 PM, I wasn’t even at the office! I have lots of photos on my phone to prove I wasn’t there!”

Flossie wiped away her tears and stood tall beside Celestine.

The other employees slowly realized they had almost been used as pawns.

“Mr. Kelsey, is this enough evidence?” Celestine directed her gaze to Bagehot.

Bagehot’s face was as black as thunder. “Celly, it’s a small matter. There’s no need to make a federal case out of it.”

Celestine’s heart went cold.
