Chapter 425
“Who said I wanted a blind date with you?” Sana snapped, practically jumping out of her skin.
When Wesley saw his test had failed, he backed down. “Okay, fine. No blind date. But we can at least share a table, right?”
“Are you seriously this annoying?” Sana asked, clearly irritated.
Wesley’s smile faded at her words. He stared at her for a moment before saying, “Going on blind dates with these losers–who exactly are you trying to humiliate?”
Sana blinked, taking a second to process what he meant. She was already annoyed that Wesley had witnessed her terrible dating situation, but his comment made her absolutely furious.
“That’s enough! If you want to share a table, then share it. If not, then get lost and stop making up crazy theories!” she snapped.
‘Humiliate someone? Can’t I humiliate myself if I want to?‘ Sana thought bitterly.
She was starting to seriously question whether this whole blind dating thing had been a mistake. Before she’d started, she had no idea her mom would set her up with such ridiculous guys. She was a victim here too.
The more Sana thought about it, the more upset she became, and Wesley was starting to really get on her nerves.
Wesley could see she was genuinely angry now, so he quickly tried to smooth things over. “Okay, I said the wrong thing. Don’t be mad. But honestly, couldn’t you at least consider trying to date me instead?
“I mean, I’m definitely more reliable than any of those blind date guys, right?”
He was pretty confident about that much. Wesley looked at Sana expectantly, hoping for her answer.
But she refused without hesitation. “I don’t need your charity or pity.”
“I’m not “Wesley tried to explain. He really didn’t mean it that way.
Sana cut him off, “Stop. Just stop talking. You just don’t like me. I can feel it, and I don’t like forcing people into things they don’t want.”
She really didn’t need Wesley forcing himself to be with her out of some sense of duty or sympathy. Sure, that kind of relationship might start out okay, but there was no real future in it.
‘Am I supposed to gamble my whole life on a man’s conscience?‘ Sana thought. She knew she didn’t have that kind of courage.
Wesley watched Sana across from him, clearly lost in her own thoughts, and felt a headache coming on.
Sana kept telling him not to overthink things, but she was obviously the one doing all the overthinking.
The problem was, Wesley honestly didn’t know how to explain his feelings for her. This was his first time trying to date anyone, so he had zero experience to draw from.
Wesley rubbed his temples, trying to stay calm. After a moment, he said, “Fine, let’s not talk about that right now. But we’ve known each other for a while now, and even if we’re not dating, we’re at least friends, right? So can you please stop avoiding me?”
He could accept that Sana wasn’t ready to date him yet. He was willing to take his time and win her over slowly. But he really didn’t want to keep playing this ridiculous game of hide–and–seek with her. It was completely pointless.
Sana stayed silent. Wesley didn’t push her–he just watched her quietly, waiting.
