Jessica watched her walk away and manured to herself, “Sugar–coated kindness, huh?”

As soon as Stella left, Jacob hurried over with a small stool and carefully placed it beside Jessica’s hospital bed.

“Mommy, can I sit here?” he stammered timidly.

“Go ahead,” Jessica replied flatly

With her permission, Jacob obediently sat down, clinging to the edge of the bed and gazing up at her expectantly.

Locking puzzled, Jessica asked him, “Why are you staring at me like that? Do I have something on my face?”

Jacob said obediently, “I want to see if you’re tired, Mommy”

“What made you suddenly ask that?” Jessica grew even more confused.

Jacob said quiltily. “My classmates said being pregnant is really hard. The nurse told me you have two babies in your tummy, so it must be even harder. Are you really tired now?”
