Chapter 162
Terrified, she ran down the street until Brian spotted her from his car. He jumped out and knocked the drunk stalker flat with one punch, then called the police and stayed with her until they arrived.
Later, Jessica interviewed at Atkinson Group and discovered Brian working there, still doing his time in the trenches before moving up the ranks. Gradually, they grew closer and closer.
Now, carrying the thermos into the car, Jessica found herself lost in memories of their sweet moments together.
A shadow fell across her face, pulling her back to the present. She looked up to find Brian leaning over her, his presence overwhelming in the small space. Their faces were inches apart, their breath mingling in the air between them.
Sensing her gaze on him, Brian tilted his head slightly toward her. Their faces were inches apart, their breaths mingling in the confined space.
Brian’s eyes drifted down to Jessica’s pale pink lips. His throat bobbed as he swallowed hard.
Jessica’s breath caught. She quickly looked away, a hint of panic in her eyes.
Brian mistook her reaction for rejection and froze, his lips hovering just shy of hers. Fighting the urge to kiss her, he reached over and buckled her seatbelt instead.
Those brief seconds had charged the air between them with tension. Jessica turned her face away slightly.
Brian didn’t want to push too far. He settled back into his seat, sitting up straight.
After another moment of silence, Brian seemed to collect himself and pressed down on the accelerator
Jessica stole a glance at him. He appeared lost in thought about what had just happened.
She remembered those days when they’d danced around each other, both clearly interested but neither willing to make the first move. Those heart- racing moments when the chemistry between them was undeniable.
The restaurant was close, just around the corner.
Brian led Jessica straight up to the second floor and into a quiet, private dining room.
Jessica felt a twinge of confusion. She hadn’t seen Brian touch his phone during the drive. ‘How had he reserved this room?‘ But she decided not to ask.
As usual, they ordered both spicy and mild dipping sauces. Jessica chose what she wanted to eat.
While they waited for their food to arrive, Jessica opened the thermos container as Brian watched with anticipation in his eyes.
Jessica ignored his eager look and began taking the dishes out of the container
The three main dishes and the soup created a delightful feast. There was also a small bowl of baked custard with a perfectly smooth surface that clearly showed careful preparation.
“You made this?” Jessica still couldn’t quite believe Brian had cooked all these dishes. Although they didn’t match her cooking skills, they were surprisingly suited to her taste.
“Yeah,” Brian nodded slightly and handed Jessica a spoon. “Try it.”
Two bright red raspberries adorned the top of the custard, looking absolutely appetizing
Jessica took the spoon and had a taste. It was bland. ‘Had Brian forgotten the sugar?” She took another spoonful to be sure. There was definitely no s
sweetness at all.

Chapter 162
Without saying anything, Jessica switched to a fork and tried the other dishes as various plates arrived at their table.
She ate the roasted vegetables along with the spaghetti while Brian helped by cutting her meat. He gently placed it on her plate.
Later, when Jessica was almost full, Brian picked up the remaining custard from in front of her.
