Chapter 129
Chapter 129
“Sylvie, I’ll be back by live this afternoon. Make sure to get plenty of fresh shrimp and asparagus,” Brian instructed Sylvie before heading cut.
He’d spent the entire night dreaming about stir–frying asparagus with shrimp and now felt confident he could make it perfectly.
At the office, Prian immediately checked the unveillance cameras to see how Jessica was doing. His fingers unconsciously traced his lips where had bitten him yesterday.
“Such a temper.” A smile flickered in his eyes as he wondered whether Jessica was carrying a boy or a gld.
Meanwhile, at Grant Group, Jessica suddenly whipped her head around, scanning her office with a pozzled expression.
It’s weird. That feeling of being watched is back again. Am I just being paranoid because of the pregnancy? Jessica wondered.
A knock interrupted her thoughts.
“Come in,” Jessica said.
Herbert entered, placing a thermos on her desk. “Ms. Grant, your mother sent this porridge over. She insisted you drink it while it’s hot.”
“Alright,” Jessica replied, a hint of resignation in her eyes.
She’d overslept this morning and had barely managed to grab two scones with fried eggs and ham before rushing out.
Stella, worried she might be hungry, had sent food over the moment Jessica left the house.
After Herbert lett, Jessica carried the thermos over to the table.
The steaming hot porridge looked absolutely delicious. Jessica poured herself a bowl from the thermos, which kept the food so hot it almost burned her
tongue.
On the other side of the security monitor, Brian watched intently as Jessica devoured her meal with obvious appetite. She finished one bowl, then poured the remaining half of the porridge from the thermos into her bowl
Soon, Jessica had polished off the entire thermos of porridge.
Once Jessica got back to work, Brian pressed the intercom button on his desk. A few moments later, Jackson came in to report on the day’s schedule.
Time flew by, and before long it was five o’clock in the afternoon.
Before leaving the office, Brian confirmed that Jessica would be working late again tonight.
He rushed back to Atkinson Villa. “Sylvie, did you get the fresh shrimp and asparagus?”
“Yes, everything’s fresh. But maybe I should help you with- Sylvie followed Brian into the kitchen, feeling sorry for all those poor shrimp that would likely be wasted. Even though she could salvage them with some extra work, they’d still be edible.
“No need.” Brian rolled up his sleeves, pushing the white shirt cuffs up his arms in a way that made him look both elegant and rugged.
But when Brian painstakingly peeled the shrimp and stir–fried them according to the recipe, the result was far from satisfactory
The fishy smell was so obvious even to him. Jessica wouldn’t just refuse to eat it the smell alone would probably make her nauseous for ages.
And morning sickness had a domino effect. Once she started throwing up, it would trigger a chain reaction that lasted for quite a while.
