Chapter 123
Chapter 123
Jessica was speechless. She didn’t know why her new assistant suggested she see a
psychologist.
She knew her emotions had been a bit unstable recently, but it was all because of Brian and Jacob. Just thinking of them made Jessica squint her eyes in
annoyance.
She had let go of the past and gently stroked her belly with her hand. She would have a baby that was only hers.
“Mr. Atkinson, wait a moment,” Madeline called out to Brian when he was going out to meet a client.
Madeline got closer to him and stared at his tie. “Mr. Atkinson, your tie is crooked,” she said.
As she spoke, Madeline naturally untied the tie knot and readjusted the tie.
During this, Brian instinctively leaned back a bit and then stopped.
He vaguely felt uncomfortable with Madeline’s closeness, but then he suddenly remembered that Jessica had been the one to tie his tie all these years.
Every morning, after tying his tie, Jessica would stand on tiptoe and kiss him. When he came home from work, Jessica would untie his tie.
Occasionally, he couldn’t help but bring Jessica into the bathroom together. Sometimes, Jacob would suddenly run in to look for his mother and spoil
their romantic moments.
The memories made Brian a bit lost in thought.
Madeline held her breath and shyly glanced at Brian’s eyes, but Brian was immersed in the memories and didn’t notice Madeline’s gaze.
“All done,” Madeline reluctantly let go of her hand, feeling that her wildest hopes were about to come true with this intimate contact.
“Thank you,” Brian turned and left.
Jackson, who was stunned beside them, came to his senses just as Brian was about to enter the elevator. He quickly caught up and secretly glanced at
Brian’s tie.
He found it hard to figure out what Brian was thinking about.
Brian didn’t spare any expense on the air freight to send Jessica fruits. He spent three million dollars on the transfer fee to buy a taco store just so Jessica could have the freshest ingredients. Yet he had this intimate contact with Madeline.
Jackson suddenly thought of a terrifying possibility. Everything Brian did for Jessica might just be because of the unborn baby.
He thought carefully. Brian sent Jessica the fresh fruits by air because she had severe morning sickness, and he bought the taco store because he was worried that Jessica would eat something unclean, which might affect the development of the baby in her belly.
Jackson was horrified to find a huge secret.
After they met the client, it was already past two o’clock in the afternoon when they returned to the company.
Brian inevitably had some alcohol. Jackson followed him back to the office to deal with the remaining work, only to find that Madeline had prepared hangover medicine.
Although Brian wasn’t drunk, Madeline brought a cup of honey ginger drink and, in a manner like the mistress of the house, said to Jackson, “Jackson,
let Mr. Atkinson have a rest.”
Previously, Jackson probably wouldn’t have paid attention to what Madeline said. But this time he hesitated and instinctively looked at Brian.
