Before he could even land a few hits, Marico was beaten to the ground. A ruthless flurry of punches and kicks followed, each blow connecting with bone. Theodore looked as if he genuinely intended to kill him.
"Theodore, you... you just wait! Even if I die, I'll come back as a ghost to settle this with you!"
Theodore planted a heavy kick squarely in Marico's stomach, drawing a sharp, agonizing cry from him.
"You said you wanted Zenith Group, and I gave it to you. Instead of running the company, you're rotting in here playing poker?"
With that, Theodore delivered another kick.
Marico pointed a trembling finger at him, in too much pain to even form a proper curse.
"Who gave you the right to boss me around... you... ah!"
"Marico, ever since we were kids, I've always seen you as nothing but useless dirt. Even if someone scraped you off the ground, you'd just slide right back down! After this little stunt, you should finally realize what a failure you are. Get the hell out of Zenith Group, and honestly, you should change your last name. The Stapleton family can't afford this kind of humiliation!"
"Theodore!" Marico scrambled up with a gasp and threw every ounce of his remaining strength into one final punch, but he missed wildly and collapsed pathetically back onto the floor. "I'm not useless! I'm not a failure! You just wait, I'll make you swallow those words! I'll make you beg on your knees for my forgiveness!"
Theodore offered a faint, mocking smile. "You have three months. If you still can't handle your responsibilities by then, I'll replace you. And when I do, I'll ship you out of the country to live on the streets."
With that, Theodore turned on his heel and walked out.
Linda cast a fleeting glance at Marico before following Theodore, dialing for an ambulance as she walked.
Having worked by Theodore's side for years, she had seen her fair share of brutality, but this was the first time she had ever seen him beat someone so ruthlessly—let alone his own brother. Then again, his brother really was a profound disappointment. Barely a month into taking over Zenith Group, he had turned the internal management into an absolute circus, leaving the company teetering on the edge of collapse.
"Mr. Stapleton, the Sargent family and the other two families just called me for you."
"Tell them to take their issues to Marico."
