The World of Beasts: She's Got Their Hearts novel Chapter 103

"Here I was, thinking it was someone important. Turns out it's just a pure human female. What's the matter? Are you feeling good about yourself just because you can calm some males?" Hector responded.

He might've been amazed by how beautiful Analise was, but he was still feeling annoyed on Vera's behalf. So, he decided he would be sarcastic and take a dig at her.

Analise curled her lips slightly when she heard what he said. He did fit the profile of a mischievous and rebellious young male.

"I heard you were injured. Is it true?" she asked as she took a step forward, ignoring his snide remarks.

"What's this? Are you trying to calm me as well? Regrettably, it's just some flesh wound. So, I don't need it."

Hector raised an eyebrow, surprised at the fact that the female wasn't mad at him. Instead, she actually expressed concern about his injury. The realization made his heart race for a reason he couldn't comprehend.

"Ms. Khielson said you were injured by the interstellar raiders. Is it true?" Instead of responding to him, Analise grabbed his arm and stared at his wound.

In fact, she was looking for signs of Vexoth venom in Hector's body. She would purify it if it were present. If he was clean, then she would have heaven to thank for it.

"Hey, you! What do you think you're doing?" Hector twisted his wrist, but he didn't dare to make any big movements. After all, he was dealing with a female now.

Having a female's tender fingers clasping his wrist made him feel so uneasy that he turned sideways. He intended to shake her hands off at first, but Scott was right there.

The last thing he wanted was for Scott to think that he was mean to females. It would be terrible if the latter locked him up.

More to the point, Scott was an SSS-grade male. Defeating someone like him was nothing more than a fancy dream. If things turned ugly, Hector wouldn't even be able to run away from him.

"I'm just checking it out. I'm not doing anything at all." Analise let go of Hector's wrist, feeling relieved. There were no signs of Vexoth venom in him.

"Vera and I are friends now. You can drop the look and stop trying to be intimidating all the time." Analise chuckled.

Hector wore his feelings on his sleeves. Someone like him wouldn't have the mental capacity to be in cahoots with The Reclaimers and Vexoths. From the looks of it, Jamari was the one she had to watch out for.

"Do you know why I summoned you here?" Scott asked after Analise was done talking, tapping his desk.

"How the hell should I know?" Hector glanced at Analise. He couldn't have concealed the diffidence on his face if he wanted to.

Before they went out in the morning, Vera told him to just admit to his mistakes. With the Khielson family backing him up, Scott would never have dished out a severe punishment.

"Get away from me and stop spouting nonsense!" Hector tried and failed to shake Liam off his leg.

"Mr. Khielson, you can't pretend not to know me!" Liam's heart immediately sank when he saw how Hector reacted.

"You're the one who said to put Ms. Chamber to the test and asked me to stop administering sedatives and inhibitors to Derek when he was about to make a breakthrough!"

He clung onto Hector's calves and cried out, "No one would've known that Derek was already on the cusp of a breakthrough if you hadn't pointed it out. I wouldn't have had the guts to do something like that."

"Stop your nonsense. Get away from me!" Hector glanced at Analise diffidently and tried hard to tear Liam away.

"So? Do you know what I'm capable of now?" Analise raised an eyebrow.

"It's just a load of crap. He's spouting lies!" Hector roared in exasperation when he saw her mocking gaze and failed to pull Liam away from his leg.

"I have the audio recording and footage from the interface!" Liam noticed how Hector denied everything vehemently, and it finally dawned on him that the latter wasn't going to care if he lived or died.
