The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 779

Alexander inhaled deeply, his chest rising and falling with the effort.

He didn’t look back. Instead, he slowly turned, opened the passenger side door, and slid into the seat. His fingers gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white. The look in his eyes was cold and conflicted—a storm of emotion swirling there, as dark and fathomless as the ocean at midnight.

Rebecca climbed into the back seat, her gaze fixed on him in the heavy silence. After a moment, she pressed again, “How are you feeling right now? If you’ve really made peace with it—if you know there’s no future for you and Danielle—then you need to let go for good. Leaving her alone is the best thing for both of you.”

The only sound was the faint hiss of the air conditioning.

Alexander kept his eyes closed, lashes casting long shadows on his cheeks. He didn’t speak, didn’t respond.

It wasn’t that he didn’t want to answer; he simply didn’t know how. He was painfully aware of Danielle’s resistance, all too conscious of the wounds he’d inflicted in the past.

Watching the tension in his brow, Rebecca felt her own heart sink.

She knew Alexander better than anyone. He wasn’t the kind of man to be swept away by emotion. The pain he felt now was the kind that came with total clarity—a suffering that cut deeper than confusion ever could.

He knew exactly what he was doing, knew he was making every move in a desperate attempt to make things right. And he remembered, with excruciating detail, how he’d once hurt the person he loved most.

He understood, perhaps better than anyone, that there was almost no hope left for them. That kind of struggle—knowing you’re fighting a hopeless battle—was far more exhausting than any blind heartbreak.

Rebecca took a steadying breath, but the words she wanted to say caught in her throat.

She understood that nothing she said now would reach him. The obsession in Alexander’s heart wasn’t something a few sentences could untangle.

She pushed open the car door, her voice gentle: “Take some time to think about it.” With that, she stepped out into the night, disappearing into the darkness.
