The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 778

Alexander was still dressed in that immaculate black suit, standing tall and motionless beneath the streetlights—more statue than man.

The night breeze tugged at the edge of his coat, lending him an even colder, more distant air.

He seemed to have known Danielle would come out on her own. When he saw her, he said nothing—just stepped forward, closing the distance between them with slow, deliberate strides.

Instinctively, Danielle took a step back, her gaze wary. “Why are you still here?”

Alexander halted a few paces away, his eyes fixed on her with unwavering seriousness. “I wanted to make sure you got home safely.”

Danielle frowned, her tone edged with irritation. “I told you, that’s not necessary. What do you want from me? Do you really think following me around is helping?”

He didn’t flinch at her words; instead, he met her gaze and spoke, each word measured and clear. “Danielle, I know you hate me. You hate how cold I was to you and Niki, how I failed as a husband and a father.”

He paused. “You hate me, and I want to protect you. Those things don’t have to contradict each other. Kirsten asked what right I have to be here. I want the right to look after you now. Will you let me?”

His voice was soft, yet the earnestness in it was impossible to ignore. In the stillness of the night, his words seemed to echo.

Danielle caught the sincerity in his eyes. Something in her chest fluttered, sending ripples through the anger she’d tried so hard to hold onto.

But then the memories came flooding back—the wounds she’d tried to heal, the pain he’d caused. She forced herself to calm down.

“Alexander, whatever we had is over.” She drew a steady breath, her voice resolute. “I don’t need your apologies, and I don’t need your protection. Niki and I will build our own lives. Please, stop interfering.”

Without another glance, Danielle turned and started to walk away.

But Alexander stepped forward and gently caught her wrist. His grip was light, as if he were afraid she might break.

“Danielle, please… just don’t push me away anymore.” His voice was rough, frayed at the edges.
