The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 582

He was as simpleminded as they came.

Even now, he had no clue how serious the situation truly was.

Leanne stared at the wild, defiant child in front of her, jaw clenched in frustration.

“Your mother was just as rebellious at your age,” she said coldly, pinning him against the side of the car. “But in the end, she listened to me. If you don’t behave, I’ll cut out your tongue.”

Her warning was icy, her eyes dark and menacing.

Raffy had grown up in rarefied comfort, pampered and protected. Aside from the time he’d been kidnapped, he’d never faced anything like this. Fear shot through him, leaving him trembling.

Even during the kidnapping, those men never threatened him like this.

Leanne knew all too well that the only way to keep a child like this in line was with stern discipline.

A spoiled child only needs a firm hand to learn respect.

Sure enough, Raffy fell silent, not uttering a single word as he slid quietly into the back seat.

He clenched his jaw, sitting obediently, but inwardly, resentment boiled over.

He glowered in the back seat at his grandmother, who was now driving.

What an old witch! She was even worse than Danielle, his wicked stepmother.

Just wait until Dad came for him—he’d tell on this old bat, and one day, he’d get his revenge!

Dad would make things right for him. He just had to wait.

The commotion from the party quickly settled as the birthday celebration for the old matriarch carried on in flawless order.

During the banquet, Nathan Davidson took the initiative to have Danielle and Niki sit by his side.

Traditionally, that seat belonged to the wife of the host.

But Nathan had no wife, so he offered it to Danielle.

“It’s only an empty seat,” Nathan said easily. “Sit here.”

Since Nathan didn’t care about such formalities, Danielle didn’t fuss either.

Alexander sat across from Danielle, his expression cool and remote as he watched her and her daughter seated by Nathan’s side.

At the table, Nathan served Danielle food. “These are your favorites. Eat up. You look like you’ve lost weight with all that work lately—is the pressure getting to you?”

“Thanks, Nathan. I’m alright,” Danielle replied.

There was a subtle intimacy between the two—on the surface, just a brother and sister-in-law, but Nathan’s feelings seemed less clear-cut.

Alexander’s face stayed cold throughout, silent and withdrawn.

The old matriarch sat at the head table, and everyone took their turn offering her birthday wishes.

After eating, Niki grew drowsy. She’d woken up early that morning, and her routine included a midday nap. Now, she was fighting to keep her eyes open.

Little kids always finished their food quickly.

Danielle shot him a look. “After sticking by your side for so long, I’ve managed to pick up a thing or two.”

Kirsten rolled her eyes. “Alright, you two titans, enough with the mutual admiration.”

The party stretched on, filled with performances and entertainment.

When the program ended, the matriarch glanced at Alexander.

“Go upstairs and check if Niki’s awake. Bring the little one down to play—she always loved running around in the yard at parties like this.”

She sighed. “After today, Danielle will take her and leave. Since the divorce, she doesn’t like staying at the old house. At least let the child enjoy herself in the garden one last time.”

She looked at Alexander. “You handled Raffy’s situation well. As for your father’s side, don’t worry about it.”

Alexander nodded slightly.

He headed upstairs.

Upstairs, Niki stirred and opened her eyes, still groggy.

A familiar face hovered above her.

“Daddy…” she murmured sleepily, her voice soft and sweet.

Nathan looked down, pinching her cheek affectionately. “Time to wake up, sweetheart.”

Just then, Alexander arrived and walked in on the scene.

Niki, still half-asleep, reached out with tiny arms. “Daddy, carry me…”
