The Wife You Buried Is Back from Hell novel Chapter 1416

The man was Captain Quinn, the head of Westbrook's criminal investigation division and one of the core officers involved in Harold's original arrest.

Hearing their footsteps, the group turned around.

"Gian, Kirsten," Danielle greeted them first. "You made it."

"Alex, Danielle." Gian and Kirsten walked over, offering curt nods before turning to the officer. "Captain Quinn."

Captain Quinn nodded back, his expression grave. "Mr. Atwood, Ms. Delaney. You've heard the news. We're on the clock. Harold is ruthless, he's cunning, and he has a small army backing him. We need a strategy, and we need it five minutes ago."

Alex turned from the window and collapsed into an armchair, rubbing his temples.

Days of exhaustion compounded by Harold's escape had left his eyes bloodshot, but it did nothing to diminish the sheer, commanding aura he radiated.

"Have a seat," he offered. "Now that you're here, we brainstorm. In times like this, it's all hands on deck."

Gian and Kirsten took their places on the sofa. A maid quickly served them hot tea, but neither bothered to touch it.

The atmosphere in the room felt like a physical weight crushing their chests.

"Captain, what's the security situation with Jake?" Gian asked, cutting straight to the chase.

That was the critical linchpin of this entire mess.

Captain Quinn set his teacup down, his tone dead serious. "We've tripled the police presence at the detention center where Jake is being held. We've got concentric perimeters set up—nothing gets in or out. If Harold wants to spring him, it's going to be a bloodbath."

"But we aren't taking any chances. Harold has an arsenal of dirty tricks. We're terrified he'll launch a decoy attack to draw our manpower away."
